Guest NickPike Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 I have set up my laptop (running XP) to use the GPRS settings via the IR port as detailed in many of the previous posts. This works great. However, should I wish to use HSCSD what are the settings for this?
Guest one.ear Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 AFAIK, HSCSD is not available on the SPV. Ben
Guest NickPike Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 So does this mine when I dial up via laptop my usage is off my GPRS allocation?
Guest one.ear Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 If u configure this way yes, although i imagine its possible to use dial-up at 9.6kb/s if you prefer.... quoted figures for data d/loaded range from about 12 to 20 pages html per MB. Ben
Guest NickPike Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 So tell me then how do you configure the SPV to use standard dialup or CSD?
Guest Danlance Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 I think HSCD is available for the SPV Orange (normally) charge £5month for the service tho. I don't have GPRS enabled, - I use dialup access, and according to orange, beacuase they were having problems getting my "Data line" to work, they enabled HSCD to see if it fixed the problem (the problem was totally unrelated, and was due to incorrect information in the user manual) - and it seems my internet connections are defiantely faster than 9.6k...
Guest NickPike Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Yes I have HSCSD enabled when had 6210 and still have so how do I get this thing to use it? GPRS is great but when the trial finishes I dont want to be using that for my laptop acess. So what are the setting on the SPV and windows XP
Guest Danlance Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 Im not using it as a modm - only for email / web access off the phone - using the 0845 number for my normal ISP (means same smtp server settings should work home and away...)
