Guest MECX Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Hey people Have been reading lots about this phone and stuff and all the problems it has. there seems to be loads of bugs. Is anybody happy with this phone>??? im thinkin of getting one but am unsure ---i was gonna buy a MP3 player anyway and i always use outlook but it would bug me if it crashes all the time when doing simple things like making a phone call. How much does this phone freeze up, say weekly and is it when doing complicated things like the internet or just simple things like texting or making a phone call? cheers :?:
Guest janagan Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 It really depends on what u want the phone for, if u just wanna make calls and SMS then obviously theres no point in buying this phone. I u want the best phone out right now that has a lot of features then this is it. Buy it. Just look at the number of registered users here and u know the answer for ur 1st question. Even though the mp3 player works fine, if u want to listen high quality music then this phone is not good enough Using outlook contacts is a breeze and it works great. Few glitches can happen but this forum has all the answers for it. No it does not crash when doing simple thing like making a call. If u use many programs all running in background then u run out of memory, thats when the hangups occur. Its been a month and i had to reset 4 times all together (2wice cause of my own ignorance). Hope this helps.
Guest philster1234 Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 :D Man If you want an MP3 player, then buy just that. This has no way near the storage of a juke box of 20gb. A 512Mb SD card to store a reasonable amount of music would cost you as much as a juke box. Jack of all trades and master of none may well be a true saying?
Guest zerocool Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 ive had my phone replaced 5 times in 2 weeks but i still love it it is the best phone out there
Guest sahli Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 phone is ok, but it can not handle multipl email accounts, weak to do integration, can't send picture with normal email unless y buy 3rd party SW, lock in Orange incl. add. SW, slow app switching, not multipl language support using SMS T9 feature unless you change and restart main language everytime, cal entries can not be sent via email either. The only transmission is via IFR, phone is almost as heavy as Nokia 7650
Guest Deako Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 I havent had to hard reset mine, i havent had to have it replaced. I love the phone!! My only gripe is the battery power, if i want to leave it on all night to use as an alarm and i dont want the charger to start sqealing at me when the phone is charged, then there isnt much battery power left in the morning!
Guest timmillwood Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 i think the SPV had got to be the no.1 geek toy for 2002-2003 yeh its got its problems but how good is it being able to play MP3s, how good is it being able to stream radio and watch movies, how good is it to personalise the phone soooo much. its just goto be the best phone out... by far, lets just hope all the bugs are fixed in the update
Guest reubenhowes Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 In answer -yes ; true there are issues with the phone that hopefully will be reduced by updates + some hardware that could be easier to use (eg keyboard) but this is cutting edge technology with huge customisation potential and a vast range of features. I do wish prople would stop moaning about what is wrong with it and start enjoying it for the great toy ... oops tool that it is. :D Yes i upgraded from a nokia 6210i - that was easier to use, did not crash, better keyboard.. blah blah .... but that is missing the point - this is a first of its kind wonderful device that will evolve (it has to) but will give me great fun playing with until next year when a new even more shiney thing will be released and I'll upgrade again. Enjoy it for what it is - if you wanted a mission critical tool NO-ONE ever would reccomend a "new" version 1.0 item - this is what the SPV is Reuben
Guest Thurstan Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 you're right it's gonna be the best phone until well into 2003... the P800 is good but it's MASSIVE and there are going to be bugs and problems with that too - I've had a Sony before and you wouldn't believe the problems.
Guest MECX Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 Thanks for the opinions people :D i just smashed my phone the other day so its looks like i need a new one. i think ill bite the bulliet and get one of these ------at least it will keep me entertained while the weather is crap. thanks again MEC
