Guest fde Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 Hi I have some questions in respect to the Orange update software. 1. I installed Orange media player via Orange update and it worked fine. Some days later I had to hard reset (erase the ISPM data) my SPV after the ROM Upgrade. I noticed that the Orange media player was no longer available as update on the "Orange update" list. Probably the server keeps track about the applications you installed. Has anyone out there an idea on where to get applications or how to trick the server? Maybe the reason is also linked to my issue number 2 2. I applied the ROM upgrade available on Orange Update. During the process, the SPV rebooted twice (Installation/Reboot/Installation/Reboot). After the second reboot I was prompted with the very same upgrade notice. So I mistakenly anticipated that this is a blind loop and canceled the 3rd installation round. The rom upgrade refuses to run again on my spv. Is there a remedy to this? Thanks
Guest SPVmad Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 Make sure your region is selcted correctly for Switzerland and then try downloading the ROM update again. Go through each step as directed. Be patient as sometimes the phone appears to be stuck in a loop, but it's not. The whole process takes about 30 minutes. After the phone reboots it'll confirm that the installation was successful. It sometimes takes it takes a few minutes before the "OK" soft key button is active. Keep trying it occasionally until it's active. Don't touch any other buttons. If you are not able to download the update then contact Orange Customer Care or go to an Orange Center. They will be able to reset your Orange Update status which will allow you to down load the update once more. A
Guest Deako Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 Anyone else tried this update yet?
Guest Spell Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 I applied the ROM upgrade available on Orange Update. I had a similar behaviour. After the first reboot I got a notice that the installation was successful but then the installation prompt came again and wouldn't go away - it had become my homescreen! :D Booting and changing homescreen settings didn't help - the prompt wouldn't disappear. Everything else still worked fine though. I tried several times to redownload the upgrade which worked. But as soon as I wanted to open/install the freshly downloaded upgrade, the phone complained that the files were removed and I was asked if I want to redownload them....doom loop. :x After all I made a hard reset and the phone is working alright since then with the new ROM Version... No idea what is new/fixed in 1.2.4.3 - anybody else?
Guest tomtomi Posted January 1, 2003 Report Posted January 1, 2003 Hi Indeed I was able to install the Swiss update some days ago and the installation process went fine. The are no obvious changes visible - only the signal bars are differntly calibrated... Unfortuantely, since the update my SPV is running much less stable than before - it crashes almost always after just one hour of inactivity (interestingly, it never crashes while I'm using the phone...). The only solution to bring the phone back to life is taking away the battery pack, wait, and put it back again...but I have to say, that I don't think this can be a good solution for a mobile phone for a long time... Has anybody else experienced the same problem?
Guest budda Posted January 1, 2003 Report Posted January 1, 2003 So is this the very same update us UK people can look forward too? Or are we going to get a bit more fixed for us...? If not I might just return my phone after all.
