Guest Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 ...I've got two bugbears with it. First, predictive text is naff. I mean, try typing the word "no". Hit the 6 key and "O" comes up - even though N is before it alphabetically. And can you select other words??? Nooooo! (or that should be "ooooooon") And also, can anyone tell me how you can save a .jpg that is attached to an email? I sent an email with attached .jpg from my PC at work to my SPV, and although I received the email fine, they're didn't seem to be an attachment - well not that I could find. Apart from that, I'm totally besotted by the lil silver box o' tricks, and not a day has passed that I haven't mucked about with sounds and profiles, or visited this forum!
Guest kevlar Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 If the word that comes up is wrong, hit the 0+ key to cycle through available words. You can't attach anything to an email with the spv alone, but IA Album allows you to attach a picture to an email. Kevlar
Guest Bazz Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 He wants to view/save and attachedment in a mail sent to the SPV. And you'll be every so pleased to learn that that doesn't work either! Barry
Guest Jedra Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 I have had no problems with the T9 text. To type the word 'no', hit the six key twice (you'll get 'on') then press the zero key, this should then change 'on' to 'no'. All in all the T9 functionality is a lot better than my old Siemens SL42e and much more like the Nokia set up. I'm even getting used to the tiny keys on the SPV!!
Guest jmechan Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 You can save attachments - ensure you've downloaded the email, use good ol' All-explorer to go to IPSMMAPIAttachments and copy and paste the .att file to where you want it, then rename it to whatever you want. I've just used this method to install a home screen layout, without being docked to my pc at all. It's cumbersome, but it works. :D
Guest benjytrainer Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 Hey All, Just thought I would add my tuppenceworth ... The T9 still makes all the same mistakes that other T9 enabled phones do - for example, whenever I type "home" I get "good" ! It's not bad per se, but the T9 is not even a small patch on the T68 - that has the best T9 of any phone on the market - and I should know because it's my job to. What I'd like to see on SPV is something similar to T68 where you can select alternatives to the typed word by tapping down on the joystick, and then advance on from the word by tapping right. Regarding the email, I think it's absolutely apalling - is it MS and Orange's grand plan that we should use MMS for everything ? Could that be why the email client will only let you have one account, you can't attach a picture to an email, and also you can't ( apparently ) receive a picture in an email ??? The T68 can do all of these except attachment handling, and the GD87 can do all of the above. Now, the SPV is a lot more powerful phone, so it should bloody well act like one - I was expecting a fully featured client for email, what we have is laughable. benj
Guest studiosonic Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 I downloaded an e-mail on my SPV with some attached jpg's without any problems. Did you mark the message for download?
Guest Scoobyroo Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 I'm sure I saw an option somewhere to select wether you wanted to download attachments or not, but I'm dammed if I can find it now???? Anyone?
