Guest p0rt Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 I am currently on my second spv handset. Last night, before going to bed, i put my phone on charge. The phone was left on charge for approx 10 hours, when i took the phone off chrage this morning the battery did not seem to be fully charged(there were only 3 bars) any suggestions? yet another dodgy spv?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 This is what I found when I left the charger plugged in, what seems to happen is that the phone charges in a few hours. So once it's finished it then discharges in the normal usage way so the battery level will drop to a certain level before the charger kicks in again. It's such a crap battery life on the phone it looks worse than it is. I just hope they bring out a bigger battery, this daily charging even on min useage is really begining to bug me.
Guest p0rt Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 Thanks for your reply. I hope they do too....I don't understand how they can justify the stand-by times they state in many published articles. I understand that battery life is closely related to how much you use the phone(obviously) but the fact of the matter is, even when i don't use the phone at all it still only seems to last a maximum of 17-18 hours...Would i be wrong in saying that the estimates are up to 100 hours stand by time? Well thats what i have read, and it's far from the truth.
Guest NXNM Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 Once the phone reaches peak, it stops charging, once it gets down a bit power it starts to trickle, that way it doesnt damage the batteries by over-charging them (Lithium batteries have a tendancy to explode under those circumstances) BTW I wouldnt trust the Windows battery checker, goto power management in settings to get a more accurate measurement, and even that is likley to be inaccurate.
Guest p0rt Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 LOL...thanks for the reply nx, btw mate, i don't trust anything ms...period! I'm interested to know,,, what kind of stand by times are ppl getting when the phone is not being used a great deal?
Guest NXNM Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 I just got mine today, it arrived fully charged at its got plenty of use yet, i reckon 2 days standby if not used much.
Guest kevlar Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 The most I've got out of the phone is about 1 1/2 days. I've had my spv for 4 weeks now. My mate has just bought an spv, he says he got 4 days out of it. Takes some believing, but maybe they have altered something in the phone. Kevlar
Guest NXNM Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 They might have, mines still chugging away, 30% power now and its been in use since 8am this morning, its a 1000MAh battery, is yours lower?
Guest Jedra Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 Mine seems to last for about 15 hours. This is with fairly minimal usage. If I really cane it with phone calls and texts the battery runs down a lot quicker. I'm either going to have to buy an extended battery (when it's out) or buy a spare charger for work! Although this battery life compares well against a PDA, Microsoft and Orange do say that the SPV is predominantly a phone. With that in mind, the battery life should be better.
Guest janagan Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 I have tested mine and total standby hours is just over 48 hours i.e. 2 days, this is when the phones screen is completly off. Now who said 100 hours standby grrrr.
Guest crimminsky Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 I bought my SPV in december, I went to my relatives for christmas and forgot my charger, the battery lasted from 11 am xmas eve until boxing day night around 60 hours....not bad considering I made calls and showed off with it. :D :(
Guest rammy121 Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 anybody know where to buy supplementary chargers or can you plug another charger into the adapter part? infact, where to get any accessories for the SPV? :?:
Guest yzbob Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 you can use a nokia 6210 charger and the adapter that came with the spv. its a bit stiff to get on but it does work and the voltage and stuff are practically the same. probably some other nokia chargers work aswell just be sure to check the voltage settings.

Guest sbsdegb1 Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 What about Nokia 6210 car charger... Are you sure it fits. I tried it and the connector on the 6210 charger is too small. Or did you force it on.
