Regards Eran
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Moved to Help and Advice. Is your phone decertified?
Guest Eran Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Hi monolithix, yes it is decertified with uk update what do i do? Regards Eran
Guest Bazz Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 It may have re-certified (it's been known to happen if the registry gets corrupted). Try running an app that is already installed.
Guest Eran Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 The phone is fully charged. i tried running now Gnuboy and it works fine. EXE's work but cabs wont install Eran
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Have you cleared out IPSMApplication DataInstall?
Guest Eran Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 there is no folder by that name in 'application data'. I've only got home, profiles, system and volatile Eran
Guest SirGaz Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Eran The directory is only visible from within All-Explorer or SmartExplorer. You cannot see it using Active Sync
Guest Eran Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 well i tried through all explorer and couldnt find it. maybe it has to do that i decerted it using the auto decert program Eran
Guest SirGaz Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Just had a look and I don't have it either  I guess that it's deleted following an install provided everything goes through fine. Regarding the cab files, have you tried several different ones or is it one specific cab you are trying?
Guest Hax Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 One other option is to copy it on to your PC and try opening with WinZip for example. This will at least let you verify that the CAB file has not been corrupted during download. Will also let you get to the contents of the CAB - maybe you could extract them to a separate folder and then copy that to your SPV and sun the setup program from there. Dunno if it'll work, but it's a possibility :) HTH, Hax
Guest yatpeak Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Just had a look and I don't have it either  .
Guest WeaponX Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I've also encountered the same problem when I installed Longhorn skin. I tried uninstalling the Xbox skin to see if it would work. Unfortunately it did not. I tried installing back the Xbox skin and now I can no longer install it. Will hard reset solve the problem? Is there anyway this can be avoided?
Guest madu Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 [offtopic note] Eran, "Please help" us keep the forum straightforward. There are so many topics called 'Help, Please, I have a problem, Arrrgghh!!'.... Why not name it "Please help (.cab files)" or something?? I'l do that for you, if you object, feel free to rename it as you like by editing your first post. Regards madu [end of note]
Guest midnight Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Yeh, i've seen this problem before (well, once someone thought they where trying to run a .cab, but the .cab was inside a .zip and .zip will not run on the phone) Also, another time i've seen this happen was when there wasnt enough room in the phones ram to open the .cab before installation. Other than that, dunno, i havent had this problem yet.
Guest WeaponX Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Sorry. I just shared the same problem I experienced and it directly refers to same s/w installation problem.
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I had exactly the same problem on the weekend. See my '.cab file blues' thread in help and advice. It looks like I had a corrupt entry in the registry and unfortunately, the only way to fix it was hard-reset. Hard-reset fixed it - .cabs now install with no problems.
