As yet I have not synced my spv with a pc because I use a iBOOK at home (people read with disbelief!), could someone tell me how to convert or upgrade my windows media player on my spv to play movie clips of the net

You can't use MPEGS only Windows Media Files - WMVs (or something like that - having a mental block at the mo). There is another media player available - it's discuess somewhere on this site. It may be able to help. Have a search and you should find it.

PS:

WMV - Windows Media Video

WMA - Windows Media Audio

Right at the back of your SPV guide just before the index it tell you what file formats that Windows Mdia Player supports...

.asf .asx .wax .wm .wma .wmv .wmx .wvx .mp3

Never heard of half of these and probably wont ever use them.

Audio Codecs

Microsoft Windows Media Audio codec version 2.0, 7.0, and 8.0

Fraunhofer IIS-A MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3 codec.

Video Codecs

Microsoft WindowsMedia Video codec version 7.0 and 8.0

Microsoft MPEG-4 video codec verion 3.0

ISO MPEG-4 video codec version 1.0

I hope this Helps you,

Go to this thread http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=3850 and download Pocket Divx. This will enable you to play mpgs avi and divx movies from spv.

Lots of people do :)

If you do a search on this forum, you'll find loads of posts and different ways of doing it.

Personally, I use dBpowerAMP - Google for the site.

I know Im waking a dead thread here, but, I don't understand how the video is working on the Mio. I put a WMV file on my MMC card in the moviealbum section and when i try to find it in the phone it isn't there. Its not in the videoplayer file nor does windows media recognize it when i ask for local content. WHy can't my mio play videos?

you must have encoded the file wrong...use windows media encoder 8 not 9 and go to custom encode to encode it for pocket pc then after it is finish encoding then put in your mmc then your media player will find it on local content...I should know because i had the same problem and finally got it to work last week.

Tried selecting STORAGE CARD in WMP instead of local content?
