Guest dma Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 When I turn on my phone the homescreen displays the correct time but it does not update itself. The internal clock is working fine as the timestamp on messages and calls is accurate. Also, if I plug it in to recharge then the display show the charging icon even if it's unplugged. And...... there are no signal bars even though I have reception. Customer services say the phone needs replacing. I really want to try and avoid this just becasue of the hassle of cleaning it up and then putting everything back on the new one (again). Any suggestions as to things to try or even a known fix? thanks Duncan PS - I really don't fancy doing a hard reset although I know this might cure it - I would rather get the new phone
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 tried a hardreset (though that would delete many settings too)? also, are you running too many applications in the background? this could slow everything down (if so close them with the free taskmanger)
Guest midnight Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 sounds like its having a problem refrshing the main page alright, i *think* the best thing to do is to first try a hard reset, if that dont work then you do indeed need it replacing. (seems as tho the timer for the homescreen refresh is screwed, which has nothing to do with the internal clock as such)
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 the best thing to do is to first try a hard reset yep! nice that someone agrees! About the replacement though: might not be too bad, as they ask you to give back your phone, battery and charger, but give you back a full box! (I don't guarantee this, but it has been known to happen most of the time)
Guest Will Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Is this a default homescreen, or one you designed yourself? have you tried any other screens? If you designed it yourself, you may be hitting the same issue I found, but you would have to be VERY clever/unlucky to do that! (i've only managed it a couple of times, in several hundred diff combo's of xml). try reverting to a microsoft plugin, maybe uksimple.hme.xml.. Will
Guest dma Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Thanks for the replies. It is one of my own edited homescreens, but it occurs on all home screens i use. I think I will just start to backup all my stuff and maybe do a hard reset on the off chance. thanks again :)
