Guest Tobers Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 There is an SMS function which allows your phone to display a message immediately on receipt, rather than putting it in your phone's "inbox". This is called "Flash SMS" When the SPV receives a flash SMS, it displays it properly, but then freezes and you cant do anything.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Can anyone verify this before I post it as a bug? P
Guest HelloDave Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Have you removed the "SMSClassZero" shortcut from your startup folder? I read in another thread ages ago that this dealt with "flashing" SMSs; perhaps if you delete it the phone doesn't reset itself properly after receiving the message.
Guest Cent Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Well I got the Danish Update running and I can not seem to verify this. It does work here. Altough I find the new problem is that it doesnt always FLASH ? You can try and use this website to test it : http://www.retrofone.info/sms.php3 I can no longer seem to test it ... something about "Out of credits".
Guest dbcohen Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 I tried this this afternoon - just because I saw the flash tick box on the retrofone website and thought it might be useful. Anyway, worked fine on my SPV - no lockup. Phone is not certificate unlocked, and I haven't applied the danish patch.
Guest Emad Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Mine works fine all the time with flash sms, only recieved 3 though ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Looks like I've miss the boat here. How do you enable this feature on the phone as I can't find it Sorry
Guest Lojt Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Looks like I've miss the boat here. How do you enable this feature on the phone as I can't find it Sorry  Its nothing you can enable on your phone, its just a special kind of sms that you can receive.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 cheers I've never heard of them before. good I'm not so thick now ;)
Guest HelloDave Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I'd never heard of them until I got an advert sent to my phone and my whole screen was taken over with "Free Nokia 3310, only £10 pm" or something like that. I was not amused! Damn Genie... ;)
Guest Will Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I freaked when a friend sent 'SIMLOCKED' to my phone as a flash! until you press a key, it's pretty scary! Will (just tested here, spv crashed, (nothing on screen)..)... rebooting then retesting.
Guest Wlodek Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 When the SPV receives a flash SMS, it displays it properly, but then freezes and you cant do anything. My SPV doesn't. Software as delivered in December (UK). Yours? W.
