Crazy Alarm Problem

Hey all,

Here is my problem.

I set the alarm in date/time and then when it is time for the alarm to beep it doesn't :D

what happens is, the screen changes to the alarm screen with the option to dismiss or snooze but the alarm doesnt play!

Now here is the crazy part, if i hit snooze, when the snooze time is up i get the alarm screen again AND the alarm DOES play.

Why the hell does the alarm only play after i have hit snooze?

Heh, it shouldn't come as a surprise, it is WINDOZE powered after all

Come on, Windows operating systems work most of the time..

What is your alarm? .mid file, .wav file?

Well this is wierd, my alarm worked first time today? I think the problem only happens if you have stuff in your inbox. I set my alarm every morning and it never works first time, and i always have stuff in the inbox! Today though i had nothing in the inbox and the alarm went off as it should!

This is crazy!

Very weird!

I have a massive inbox, and alarms work fine.

I heard that the alarm only REPEATS if the ringtone is set to ascending?

I certainly wouldn't trust the SPV alarm on it's own yet :D

My alarm works fine every day I must be lucky and it's not set to ascending either :D

I didn't trust my alarm, so I've setup daily appointments to sound at 7.30...

..lucky I've got a good body clock! I woke up this morning about 8.10 and the screen of my SPV showed the usual Alarm/Appointments screen with Dismiss and Snooze, yet no alarm had sounded? I know I couldn't sleep through it as I have it set on the most annoying/loudest ringtone the SPV can do, plus it is set to Asscend. A quick snooze later and the alarm sounds?

My Inbox is full, so thats a possibility? However when I woke up this morning I had the low battery warning (it was on three bars before i went to bed!), and also had an error screen from the Orange Update, so maybe there is a link there? I'll try it again tonight and turn off Orange Update to see if the alarm works.

Ben.

The alarm works ok. But if you have the phone turned off and turn it on at a later time - the alarm still goes off, which is a bit strange.

But still a great phone though!

At least you can acces your alarm function ! I set the time and date and thats the only time i've been able to enter the Time and Date function. Rang Orange and they are doing 'tests' and will get back to me ?!??! Think I've been fobbed off

if you cannot access your Time & Date options try changing Sort Date Display format in Regional settings - had same prob last night. this sorted it

O.k me and madukranian found something.

It seems that my alarm problem has been fixed by one of two things..

1) It worked staright after a hard reset

2) It could be that using Non standard home themes (e.g the ones that dont originally come on the phone) somehow cause the alarm to not function!

Its still crazy and damn annoying.

I've got a non-standard XML home layout and I'm playing a fairly big WAV file, but it works every day for me... well, after I realised it doesn't work when you have the phone off!!

Well, it looks like there are different plugins that in effect do the same thing. Like there are both Orange and Microsoft SMS plugins. Only onew works ok and the other does not.
