I received my Unlock Code

Hi !

After one month, I finally got my unlock code from Orange.

I'm not gonna post my IMEI code here. But if somebody wants it (along with the unlock code), I will PM the codes in case somebody can work out from these codes the way to get the unlock code from the IMEI code (I guess that won't be easy with just one pair of codes).

And NO (if you wonder), sorry but it does not remove the softlock, software still need to be certified to be installed.

I got my unlock code too.

I can also confirm that the unlock code is NOT generated based on the IMEI, so the only way to get it is to read the relevant part of phone memoery (not easy!), or pay Orange who go and look it up in a database!

I bought the SPV at full price in France (529 euro). So it supposed to come with the unlock code (event thogh I had to wait a month).

The SPV with a subscription plan is 319 euro and 41 euro per month (so that's 811 euro for a full year and the phone).

If you get a subscribtion you have to wait 6 months before you can request an unlock code.

So getting a unlocked SPV is not so expensive in France.

£25 plus the rest of your contract.

It is £20 actually (or at least that is what they charged me for my 4 phones)

And what's with the poor swiss guys? No way to get an unlocking code in sight! and i'm not really keen on sending my phone to gb to have it unlocked... :x :D

If the unlock code is written in the phone can't we find it?

It's probably encrypted or compressed but I saw that soma poeple can read the dump of the ROM from the SD card.

So I guess it is worth trying to see if we can find the unlock code somewhere in the hexadecimal file. If we can locate were this code is, I guess we could find the unlock code of any SPV (or for that matter, any phone running MS Smartphone).

I have a SD card reader on my laptop (PCMCIA). Can somebody explain how to read the dump since when I put it in the reader nothing is recognized.

The code is in an area that can't be dumped to SD.

I've contacted [email protected], but in order to unlock my spv, i have to send it to him (Switzerland -> Great Britain and back...). Has anyone made any experience with guy?

My code was available today exactly 1 week after requesting it. The infuriating thing is that Customer Services refuse to put you through to the unlocking team (which I have found out consists of 2 people) who are the only people that can give you the number. They only email them with an 'action' to call you back. Useless if you spend most of your time on the phone. I did discover that if you ask Customer Services to scroll through your record to the unlocking details, the name of the advisor is there and they can put you through. The problem is that they clearly both go to breaks at the same time as they always seem to be 'both away from their desks' Phone tag does my head in!

The code is for removing the SIM lock (i.e. the code allows you to use non Orange SIMs in the SPV).
