Is there anyway of delaying the answerphone so you have longer to pick up the phone??? sounds easy but i cant find it anywhere!!!

Hi Jimbob, I've come across the same problem. I want the ringtone to continue for longer than the 15 or so seconds that it does before switching to the answerphone.

I spoke to the nice people at Orange and they gave me a code to enter from the home screen as follows xx61x0793100123xx then in multiples of 5's enter the length of time you wish it to ring , maximum time being 30 secs then press the hash key then green phone button for dialling, and voila there you have it!

Or as in my case you don't because it didn't work!

They also gave me a number for some teckhies 01295 662109, i've not had a chance to try it yet but when i do i'll let you know what they come up with

My problem is compounded by the fact that i can't actually turn off the answerphone , i think it's a network problem, obviously if the answerphone could be switched of then the phone would ring continously, i could live with that, every other phone i've had has never given me this problem, does anyone else find that they can't change there call forwarding settings and if so any ideas because orange don't seem to have any.

I too had the same problem ! As in the post by stillwaiting, the code they gave me didn't work ! There is also a slight error in the code posted, it should be -

**61*07973100123*11*nn# (where nn is the delay in seconds - upto a max of 30)

You may also wish to try ##002# - this apparently cancels all diverts on all lines ... again this didn't work on my SPV !

But I overcame it ... simply by putting my Orange sim in another GSM phone - then the above codes did work ! (Had to do the ##002# first, then the **61* bit) Orange of course didn't have a clue, and simply told me to take the phone back to CPW.

Personally I think the problem lies in the divert codes ... the SPV is voice / data (& possibly fax) capable ... the *11* bit in the sequence above instructs the network to divert voice calls only !

So my advice - if you're struggling, place your Orange sim in another GSM dual band phone, and try the codes above !

i tried the above method on my SPV,,, had the do the ##002# first and then type in **61*07973100123*11*nn# (where nn is the delay in seconds - upto a max of 30)

and it worked on mine..... i haven't tried ringing it yet to see if it works, but just said Suceeded when i dialled it.

Thanks lycrawearer, i tried your tip of putting the sim in another gsm phone and it worked, i managed to change the length of time it takes to go to the answerphone from 15 secs to 30, but to be honest i shouldn't really need to go to all this bother of changing the sim into another handset, what about the people who don't have a compatible handset, they're gonna be up s*it creek without a paddle also i should be able to switch off the answerphone at my convenience. this is definitely another bug which Orange should try and sort out

In reply to your ? monolithix, i don't think there is. The only options i've come across are changing the pin number or adding a greeting but no option to turn off the voicemail. Like i said in aprevious post all my other handsets have allowed me to change the answerphone settings at my convenience, i don't know how many other spv owners have this problem, it would be interesting to find out how many there are out there with the same problem.

Well like i say, i cant turn mine off. surely thats a problem orange's end though, possibly through the way it communicates with the spv, as it has to download the settings before displaying them.

I did lycrawearer's code and it worked first time. I tested it with a stop watch and it was spot on! nice one...Cheers
