BEWILDERING problem! return to as sold settings no data lost

Went to bed, turned SPV off as usual with all my settings intact ie ringtones and backgrounds.

Turned it on this morning, it had reverted to exactly the mode it was in when i bought it, instantly went to Orange backup, 1st try got a "this app is not digitally verified" second try it worked but with my password and settings erased.

All of my info was still on the phone but it had bizarrely returned to mode as bought

any explanations would be most welcome!!!

Had this twice over Christmas.

At least it didn't delete anything - it just reverted my home screen, programs menu and IE favourites to the original settings.

Not impressed :-(
