Guest m4ttc Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Just ordered my SPV despite reading about some of the bugs etc. Part of the fun is takling problems issues and trying to keep up with technology. Anyway, what tips can you offer me before I start setting up my SPV? Any do's/dont's? Tip's/trick's? Easy mistakes etc What about Storage. Is a larger SD card a must from day one and if so what size. Cheers in advance M4TTC
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 I have just ordered a 128mb SD card. But have had my SPV for about 6 weeks and been fine with the 8mb card. However I haven't got any mp3's on my card or videos.
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Don't worry too much about the bugs... they are really not that bad. Always remember, it's a microsoft product, most issues are resolved if you power it off and then back on. One thing to make sure of is if you "reboot" by switching off then on, give the phone a good 10seconds at least powered off before bringing it back up. I found quick reboots made mine go nuts. SD Cards... I'm still on the 8Mb that came with it. At the end of the day that's plenty of space for the limited number of apps that are available at the moment. If you want to start playing with Mp3s or movies etc then you'll want a bigger card. I've been ignoring these for the moment but I'm gonna get a cheap SD card shortly and then go nuts.... Cheap 128Mb SDs are costing around £40 at the moment. Of the apps available for it... in my opinion... All-Explorer is a godsend and the free version that comes with the phone seems fine to me, hasn't "run out" or anything. IA-Album is a good app, costs US$19.99 and gives you a good picture viewer and a photo taking app. The video in the program is crap but otherwise it's solid. Games, Slurp rocks. Also search these forums for Invasion and Waterman, their pretty lame but free. Interstellar frames is only good for showing off what this thing can do 3d graphics wise, the game itself is rubbish. I bought it for £1 and I wouldn't even say it was worth that. Rebound looked vaguely OK but I found it to be a bit unplayable with the ittle joystick thing. Other than that, get it syncing to Outlook, put in all you contacts and dairy entries and go crazy.
