Guest recif2000 Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 hi everybody, I've got one question. I wanted to buy a SPV in an orange shop in london and the guy told me I could get it with the type of contract i have I 've got 50 (or 60 min i don't remenber) per day for the evening only and I pay 14.99 every month. To buy the SPV the guy told me that I had the change of monthly fee . At the end to have the same thing but with only 30 min per month day time I had to pay 30 £ ( + the 6 £ for the SPV ) So I decided to forget about it. I saw that some people sell SPV on ebay and they say that you only need to have an orange sim card. So if I buy it on ebay and request the 6 £ fee per month to orange to be able to surf the web will it work. ( I wanted to change the mobile I already have to the SPV) thx a lot
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 It's locked to the Orange network but as long as that is the network you are on then everything should work fine for you if you can source the handset somewhere else. Also since it's not gonna be tied to a contract you should be able to get it network unlocked for abotu £20 once Orange gets their act together support wise.
Guest recif2000 Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 so you think I can keep my contract and just contact orange to pay the fee of 6£ per month and I will be able to use my SPV with all the function?
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Yeah, if you can get a handset from somewhere you should be fine. One of my mates has an Ericsson T68 on Orange and rang up the other day and got GPRS + the £6/month Deal for that, so you shouldn't have a problem with it. Remember tho that the GPRS and Free MMS deals do run out in Feb or March or something and then the GPRS packages might be a little pricey...
Guest Danlance Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 I'm on orange everyday50 You can do an upgrade - I got mine from CPW - £99.99 - probably much cheaper than you'd get it Sim Free... You won't be able to get a "new" contract deal with a free phone on that tariff - as the tariff is no longer available... (too many people using it for free data calls I think  )
Guest V0oD0o Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 When I got my SPV, I was still in contract with my T68 (I upgraded the missus' phone). Orange said, that in order to get the £6 MMS/GPRS deal, I needed to upgraded my own account (which incurred the £75 upgrade fee). So, double check before you spend any money. Cheers, Mike
