Guest icornish Posted January 4, 2003 Report Posted January 4, 2003 Yesterday morning I picked up my phone and realised I had not let it charge overnight  - it was saying my battery condition was critical etc etc. So I plugged it into the charger. I got home from work (yes, I do work), and looked at my phone complaining about "unable to find home screens". I turned it off and on again. It said the same. My applications were still there, but refused to run. I went into settings, and all I got was "These settings cannot be found". I am not at all sure what happened, and neither did 156 when I spoke to them. However, I eventually managed to get it to do a hard reset, and got my phone back, the prime casualty being that I no longer have the "Orange" splash screen when I power up. My GPRS data is not working yet (guess a call to Orange should fix that... If anyone has any thoughts about what happened, I'd be grateful.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Very very odd...! When you make a call, does it say 'Orange' in the top right, or 'SmartPhone 2002'? P
Guest ray Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 I got a similar problem when I did a hard reset and got a little bit impatient. I thought it had locked up when powering up again and turned it off/removed the battery (can't remember which). When I powered up again the phone wouldn't register with Orange and some of the apps. didn't work. Make sure you have a well charged battery, try another hard reset and wait (and wait) until the home screen comes up properly. Mine took about 5-10 minutes. Have now done 3 hard resets that worked for various reasons with no problem.
