Guest arunhallan Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 [Edited by Site Admin, thanks for the submission arunhallan!] SYMPTOM: I can't read an MMS from a friend who has a Nokia 7210, but they can read ones I send to them. Does anyone know why this is and do u have a solution? When I try to read it, it says downloading message for ages until I stop it and then I end up with a blank msg. Sending / Receiving to/from a T68 from the SPV works fine. RESOLUTION: None known
Guest DJHope Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Personally i think the service is just shite and not setup properly thats why all the networks are giving it away free for 3 mnths? Why else? Try www.nowmms.co.uk and look at this thread ( http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1406 ), thatll get you away from using Orange MMS. :D
Guest arunhallan Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 is that method still free? Does anyone else have the problem of not being able to receive mms off nokia 7210's?
Guest Tyrant_worm Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 This is a Nokia nk7210 problem, not SPV. All handsets struggle with MMS from this phone, strictly speaking the nk7210 is not an MMS capable phone as it does not support .smil (possibly a Nokia variant/smacks of M/S anyone?)which is the acccepted standard for MMS. Synchronised Message Integration Language is used to open a message and different file types simultaneously. MMS is in it's infancy and will not properly kick off until WCDMA happens. The problem which all operators face at the moment is the still relatively small % of handsets out there which support MMS. This dictates that a table is used with registered MMS subscribers in it so that it can be determined whether to deliver a WAP push for MMS retrieval or deliver the "you can pick up your MMS at" type message(legacy).
Guest arunhallan Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 after the update mms seems to be working fine to all phones i have sent to including 7210s
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Can we have some people confirm this please? If it has been resolved i'll close the thread. Thanks.
Guest CaptainZok Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 managed to send one to the wifes new 3510i if that helps
Guest casper508 Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 No luck with the 7210s eitherway. Finally sent one to a T68 the other day. Cas
Guest xenaco Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 since about mid feb, i have been able to receive MMS from nk7210's on Orange UK (unlike previously). X
Guest tommyvercetti Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 yeap ive got the same problem as well, when my girlfrieds sends me mms messages from her 7210(shes on 02) i cant load the mms,i just get a stupid message saying to go on the 02 websites to view the pic
Guest orange_sandman Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 you should only get the message to view it on the web site if your handset isnt set up for MMS at the network end, or if you are on incompatable networks. when the network sends the message it checks if the recieving handset is set up for MMS. if it is, the MMS gets routed to the handset, but if its not the details are sent to the website and a text message is sent to the recipient telling them where they can view it (orange call it the Legacy Experience - dont ask me why) if you are on orange you should be compatable with messages from O2 (I think they are the only other network that is compatable with orange so far). Have you been able to send her (or any one else) an MMS? and are you able to recieve MMS from anyone else? if youre not, give orange a ring and get them to check MMS is set up on your account.
