Guest m4ttc Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 I'm on a £6 per month data tariff for the next 4 months. This is in addition to my talk 200 talkplan. Anyone know how the Orange data tariff charges are going to pan out after April??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 This is the link for the Orange gprs bundles. So you need to watch your usage if you choose a cheep tarif as Orange will sting you. so after April I may be linking through my computer for updates. http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/gprs/costs.html
Guest m4ttc Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Thanks for the link. They're a bit naff really. Really difficult to say how useage will go. Prpb quite high at first but then go down. When you say 'linking through your computer', presumably you mean using its internet connection. When you are in 'synch' mode, do you set the connection to Auto or 'pass through connection'??? Have not tried this yet :?
Guest Thruk Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Use "pass through". Works fine for me on ADSL. And how! But who says Orange per MB tariffs won't change between now and the end of the promotion? I suspect they will. And not for good, I'll wager.
Guest mroneliner Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 i'll second that, working 'in the industry' i've been reliably tipped that orange will be making a large number of changes to their tariffs between feb-march and i'm sure you'll be glad to hear a lot will involve better text plans. oh and i've been told that orange will automatically put you on the gprs bundle closed to your average usage over the previous months so be aware. take it easy rich :D
Guest m4ttc Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Cheers for in the info boys! Just tried pass thru and it works fine even with a 56k dial up   (he says embarrassingly) Looking forward to trying it in work with a 10mb link. As for GPRS 'bundles' visit 10 web pages and you use up you £4 - 0.5MB limit? Not too good. Is there a GPRS Bundle 2/3/4 etc and pro-rata costings? M4TTC
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Reckon your sig could be a bit bigger M4TTC?!? ;-) Hello to a fellow Audi owner tho! P
Guest m4ttc Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Yes it is a bit big. Not had time to sort it with getting to grips with my SPV. It is my TT Forum sig Good to hear from you tho
Guest yzbob Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 whats the bet orange bring out a big fat update to be downloaded just after the free data package ends
Guest m4ttc Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Surely then you'd be able to do the "pass through connection" and use your PC's connection download the update rather that GPRS???
Guest DJHope Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 yep you can use passthrough for updating :D
