Not for the first time my SPV has decided to freeze. I've also noticed that the clock has stopped. Pressing the on-off button doesn't help either. Suppose it'll be remove the battery time again! This seems to happen 2 or 3 times a week. Is this normal?

Yep, happens to me all the time... pretty much ever since I got my SPV just before Christmas... I (foolishly) put up with it over the holidays because my main use is for work.

The phone simply freezes (clock stops, no buttons function, battery needs to be removed to get the phonbe going again...) This happens up to 6 times a day!

I contacted Orange last Friday and reported it as a problem - 'Someone from technical Support will call you back Sir...' I chased them on Saturday - 'Could be up to 48 hours, Sir' and Sunday 'We apologise for the delay, Sir...'

Today I thought I'll trawl the web to see if anyone else was having this problem..

I'll update as soon as I get a response from Orange...

Tony.

Yes this too happened to me alot when I had my first SPV. I too put up with it for a while until enough was enough. I had the "tech support will ring you back" but did'nt reply. In the end I took the phone back to Carphonewarehouse and got a replacement.

The new phone is running the same hardware/firmware/software version as the old one but has not gone wrong or froze in over a month now.

I was told, eventually, that my old phone failed a remote diagnostic and was faulty. It sounds to me like you are having exactly the same problems as me.

Get rid of the phone and get another on.

Mine always freezes when I try to run Tennis Addict and its annoying because I've not had chance to play the game yet!

A new phone will be arriving tomorrow for different reasons so hopefully things will improve.

if i play tennis addict(the demo) i cant quit the game the only way to get out is to switch off switch on, i presume this is not the case with anyone else?

i think this happens dew to the fact there is not enough memory on the phone and so when you are opening a program and it starts to think it will mess up and the only way of fixing it is by taking your battery out. and that is not a good idea. oh well

I've had the same problem since I got the phone about 20ish days ago.

Sometimes if I leave mine switched on over-night, in the morning its fozen, but with the flashing green indicator still flashing, calls to it go to answerphone. But suprisingly the clock shows the right time.

I reported the problem, and Orange Tech Support got their 'Call-Back' team to tell me that "the freezing is normal, because Nokia phones do it as well" :x She went on to say that "it might be fixed over the air, because its a known problem".

So its 'normal' but a 'known problem'.

Technical Support don't actually call u back themselves (non customer facing), instead they get another team to read out notes that they have written from a screen. Waste of time usually, because you can't actually discuss the problem at that time, any further queries get sent by the operator back to the Tech Support team - very frustrating !

Anyway, the Orange shop are going to change my phone for a new one.

Further update to my 'freezing fone'....

Phone was replaced on Saturday (11.01.03) and so far, so good... the phone has not frozen once... (touch wood veneer desk...)

I don't think Orange like to admit this one, but it looks like only a replacement sorts the problem.....

Now all I need is a Windoes 2000 modem driver for it... anyone help?

I've had the same problem ever since I had my SPV (2 month ago). I've had the SPV flashed a couple of times a my local Orange Shop in a efford to correct the problem.

But the last time I wanted to have the phone flashed, the Orange employee told me that one of my buttons was defect, so it couldn't be flashed. We agreed that it should be send in for service.

Today I recieved an offer to get it repaired :x dkr. 1250 (around £ 100). The said my mainboard was defect, the button (volume-up) had been pressed so hard into the mainboard, that it had broken. The repairman said that the button now was floating around inside the SPV.

So they now say that I have exposed my SPV to physical violence, and I have to pay for the repair, but the funny thing is that the button was in place when I turned it in - it just didnt work. So did the red button, but it will be fixed under warranty. I know for a fact, that I have not droped the phone or anything else in that direction.

Should I just accept and pay or does this smell bad :?:
