Guest m4ttc Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 When I receive emails, I get a link to 'Mark for Download' at the foot of the email. What does this mean as I have just received the body of the email and as far as I can see, there is nothing to download. I know I am probably being a simpleton
Guest chewie Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 If the email is bigger than the file size you specify to download then you hit the mark for download link, in the email. Next time you do a send and receive the email will be downloaded fully! It does this even with emails which are smaller than the file size specified, this is so that if you dont DL it the email stays on the server, supposedly... i havent been at work over xmas but was recivibng my work email on my phone, I didnt donwload quite a few emails, but for some reason my spv seems to have deleted them off the server as i have 0 email at work now. Why the hell microsoft couldn't of added a "leave a copy of email on the server" tickbox i dont know!
Guest Hax Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Check the settings (Inbox -> Options -> Receiving) - you can setup the e-mail to download just the headers, first 500/1000/5000 bytes or the whole message. Might be that you've set it to receive the first 1000 bytes but the POP client doesn't (or maybe can't) tell that the whole message was only 1000 bytes or less in size and so still assumes that the whole message has not been downloaded?? Just speculation mind you, Hax
Guest Shuflie Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Hi Chewie, does your company use exchange server at work on an always on server? If they do you would probably be better off just setting up a server side redirection to an external email address. I have mine set up to automatically redirect all email <200Kb to an orange net email account I set up. The mail still stays on the server until I get back to work but I can preview it on the phone.
Guest oallostavros Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Here's one for all the brains out there. I've tried setting my mpx200 to receive the header, or first 500, or first 1000, or the whole message, but the phone does not listen to me? It almost always just gives me the title, and then several more words from the start of the body of the email. Never more than 1 sentence into the body of the email. Why won't it give me what I ask it to? Even more frustrating is the fact that I almost never get that little option at the bottom of the message that says "mark for download", so I can almost never view my emails fully. Anyone know what's going on here? Any guesses? FYI - I'm using a web based University email address.
