Guest Shaks Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 [Edited by Site Admin, thanks for the submission Shaks!] SYMPTOM: Today, my phone was in my pocket, I went to check on it and found it had switched itself off. This was very odd as my battery was over 50% full also it was the second time it had switched itself off today. Anyway, I turned my phone on. It powered up immediately but I was greeted not by my customised home screen but the old orange homescreen. I checked all my settings and everyone of them had been reset to default. Even my AllExplorer had to be reactivated. All my files were still there including my emails, my home screens, my wav files and my favourites. All my programs were still present, however my remove programs list was completely blank so I couldn't uninstall programs. I had to change all my settings back again RESOLUTION: None Known
Guest Slohr Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 This happened to me as well. E-mail and MMS setup was also deleted, and when it was connected to the PC, I had to do the whole ActiveSync setup procedure again! Slohr
Guest rjlawson Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Me too! Mode> Happened this morning, just after turning on it reset & then came back in German mode! Managed to make it back to English & it's been OK since. Had to set-up E-mail accounts again, and homescreen. No ideas what happened!
Guest yzbob Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 this happened to me a couple of weeks ago, i actualy found it quite useful as all my trials went back to 30 days (wish i could do it when i wanted :D
Guest christatedavies Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 Mine has just done it again. It happens to me when I turn it off, even if it os for only a couple of seconds. I lose all the custom WAV files in the windows folder, which means all my funky ringtones are gone. Infact, anything I put in the windows folder is reverted... Just thought, my mxip_oem_10.provxml may have reverted. Better check now... No, that's ok. This is annoying...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 just thought, my mxip_oem_10.provxml may have reverted. Better check now... No, that's ok. The prov files will revert back to the original state when the phone restarts, this is normal as the main Windows folder gets rewritten on every startup.
Guest yatpeak Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 If it gets re-written on every startup, why don't you have to decert each time you turn it on? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 This is an open question that's been discussed a few times, and the answer may hold the solution to de-certing DK-2 updated phones. :)
Guest christatedavies Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 awarner. I didn't realise this. I have since moved items to other folders, and have had no problems since. Nice one Bruvva!!!!
Guest elizamft Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 I lose all the custom WAV files in the windows folder, which means all my funky ringtones are gone. Infact, anything I put in the windows folder is reverted... This is annoying... I'm very much annoyed too. I loose all my ringtones and the words that I've added to the T9 dictionary. I just hope this is a OS problem and have a fix for it soon.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 If it gets re-written on every startup, why don't you have to decert each time you turn it on? Thanks, Wyatt Because as posted many times the mxip file only gets read after a hard reset or when the phone decide to do an auto repair after the registery has become corrupted, and not at any other time.
