Guest Gorskar Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I've searched around quite a bit, and This seems to be the best I can find. OVP Anytime 200 = £25/m (+£6 for Gprs) Phone cost =£free If anyone knows of a place where I can get a cheaper line rental, whilst keeping the cost of the phone below £30 ish then I'd love to hear from you! I will probably change to a cheaper line rental after the 3 or 4 months are up anyway.
Guest Firaas Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Yeah that sounds quite cheap (although I got mine free on Your Plan 120 a while back). I didn't trust TheMobileRepublic for aftersales support as they weren't willing to supply me with a telephone number to contact them in order to finalise payment (I asked twice via email). In the end I got the Carphone Warehouse to pricematch them, which they did. They won't pricematch instore against internet prices, but will if you call 0808 100 9250.
Guest Gorskar Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Thanks for your reply. According to the carphonewarehouse website they will only match internet offers by up to a £50 difference, which isnt good enough. I've searched thru the mobile republic site, and found this customer service number: 0870 840 8040, although it was buried quite deeply. Ive also found that you can get the yourplan 120 free also there (if you click add to basket from here you get the yourplan 120 free, and from here you get the OVP Anytime 200 free, although there is a mistake on their website, so that both show up as the OVP 200. I think I'll take my chances and try ordering the yourplan 120 deal.
Guest arawak Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Carphone warehouse will price match for bigger differences than £50 because I got mine there for free saving £99. It really does depend on who you speak to so if you want it for nothing from a reliable supplier like CPW just try calling again until you get some joy :D
Guest Gorskar Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I gave them a ring, but the best they could offer me was for £30. You must have got lucky. Now to try mobilerepublic...
Guest DancingMatt Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Got mine from CPW over the phone, £99 reduced to free as a price match for the OVP Anytime 200 (£25/month) offer on TheMobileRepublic.com. And TMR.com were out of stock at the time! And I've had to return it since then and can honestly give nothing but praise for their telesales team.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 what are the conditions on getting a phnoe through "upgrade" on tmr.com? can you just get a phone without contract (but network locked)
Guest Gorskar Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 No Idea, I guess send them an email to ask. Ive ordered it now and am waiting to see if/when it turns up I think the carphonewarehouse must have a policy of a maximum £100 reduction, as the price is £130 for the OVP200 contract now, and they offered me £30 as a price match.
Guest Gorskar Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Yes, somewhat of a cheating definition methinks! I wasn't going to pay that - thats for sure.
Guest dan.peterson Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Any body managed to price match with the link? Know they stock it, in theory, and saw someone who said they had a while back somewhere on here. Just wondering if many people had managed. o
