Guest Wizard Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/59/28751.html This is a news story about a version of the SmartPhone OS being launched this week in the States. Interestingly it states that this version includes Word and Excel viewers. I hope these will be included in the next Orange patch, although to be honest I'm much more interested in seeing fixes to bugs - like the 3sec-freeze-up problem. Wizard
Guest ajb3000 Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 How comes the Hitatchi phone gets a 400Mhz processor while ours in the SPV runs at a measly 80Mhz??
Guest DJ WATTS Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Actually the Orange SPV has a TI OMAP 710 processor running at 132mhz. Still does not match up to the Hitachi processor though!:D Personally i think the Orange SPV is a great phone but could of done with being 5 times faster than it is. I want my phone to be instant when going through the menus and not have to wait as much between certain screens to load up (especially the home screen and sounds menu).
Guest florin_m Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 RUNNING ON 84 MHZ!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me!
Guest DJ WATTS Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 So Micro$oft are using false advertising then on the stats of the hardware? http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/smartphone...are/default.asp Which clearly states Processor Speed 132Mhz
Guest psneddon Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I don't think the new phones are using the Smartphone os, more like PPC 2002 Phone Edition. Check out the pick of the new phone. http://www.bargainpda.com/assets/649.jpg So I don't think we will see word or excel viewers on the smartphone
