Guest Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Having just tried to download a wav. file which would easily fit on my handset the following message came up alert Your phone is running low on free storage space. Delete old or unused items to create more space. This is crazy as the download didnt complete and having just checked my settings it says available storage 0mb total storage 7.5mb available memory 7.14mb total memory 11.82mb Is it possible that a new ringtone and a new homepage would take all that space? Thanks in advance. :?
Guest Lojt Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 'available storage 0mb' This is your problem.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 yep, try removing the sd card? might then force PIE to download to ur my docs in ISPM
Guest Bazz Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Nope. There is no space on the phone. The available storage refers to storage on the phone. Currently there is no way to tell how much staorage you have on the SD card (except using All-Explorer). Looking at this I'm guessing it downloads into the phone instead of the card by default. My advice. Move any data you've got on the phone to the SD card. You only have 7.5Mb on the phone and you should keep some of this (half?) free for the phone to use.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 ...Currently there is no way to tell how much staorage you have on the SD card (except using All-Explorer)... Programs > settings > about admittedly the info isnt particualy accurate but its better than nothing...
Guest Gandalf Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 hi guys :D as you can tell i have very recenly bought the SPV and am still familiar with all the functions  can anybody please tell me how to access things i have transfered onto the sd card. for example mp3's i've tried the 'autorun' but they do not appear. thanking you in advance!
Guest cseilern Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 my storage space on the phone has been gobbled up by a 3.5Mb file called MXIP_INITDB.VOL. I too quickly ran out of space until my "available storage" was at 0Mb, at which point the SPV start behaving strangely. I soon had to trash some unneeded files, mostly ringtones (.wav), some powerpoint presentations, some.mp3's and some images (.jpg's). if anyone knows what this *&*%£$ MXIP_INITDB.VOL file please let me know - i'd love to shrink/delete it if possible.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Gandalf: WMP will auto detect any media files you have on your phone or sdio card and list them when you fire it up. pictures are also auto detected by the mms app and programs such as ia-album. as for exploring the card install all-explorer from the orange autorun that pops up when you put the provided card in, this will then allow you to browse through all files on the phone and storage card. Once you've installed everything you want back all the files up to ur pc and remove them from the card, gives you a theoretical 8meg(ish :/) of storage cseilern: is that file on ur storage card? mine is still 422k, and in ISPM, it hasnt changed in size since i started checking on it this week, the modified dates are updated however when you activesyunc ur phone.
Guest cseilern Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 monolithix, the file is NOT on the card - it is on the phone, and yes its modified date updates with Activesyncing. But since my file is almost 10x the size of anyone else i know of i am keen to know what it is so that I can do something about it! right now i dont dare moving it somewhere els for fear of violently crashing th phone...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 OK sorry, i read your previous post as the storage card being the files location. As for the problem, I know ms people do occationally frequent this board, but your best bet, if you havent tried this already, is to get on the ms newsgroups, the microsoft.public.smartphone group in particular, smartphone 2k2 devlopers from ms are a lot more active on there and may be able to help you with the problem. you can get to these newsgroups through either the msdn site here, or in OLE through the normal news feeds provided by your isp, assuming they have the group
Guest Gandalf Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 monolithix: thanks for the tip works brilliant!!!!!!! :D
