Guest maegic Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 My Orange Smartphone (Switzerland) usually works well, but spontaneously (2-3 times a day) it goes offline but shows online status on the top right corner of the display. I cannot send or receive messages or calls. After a reboot, SMS rush in and everything is fine. Any help? This is ugly!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 This is a problem with your specific handset I think! P
Guest Beli0 Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I have the same problem in Swiss. Sometimes is everything ok but somteimes handset drives me crazy. I have had ask in Orange Shop about this but they say this is not possible, that the handset show me its online and i can't call someone, and then they have give me a new one and now its the same problem. I think we need a Update. ;)
Guest barncourt Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Do you use the screensaver by any chance? I've turned mine off now and since then have not experienced anymore instances where the phone does not respond even though it is switched on, e.g. when trying to answer a call. I figure it is a bug with the screensaver.
Guest Beli0 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Yes i know that this can help but battery life is to short then. I have seen when i don't take conection with Orane Update that then everything is ok. Probably they memory something on headset . I have now make hardreset and i would see.
Guest yatpeak Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Does anyone know if there is any reason my phone occasionally just cant connect to the internet, even when it has a good signal, it seems to do it just when i dial up a second time (when it times out).
Guest Bazz Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Does anyone know if there is any reason my phone occasionally just cant connect to the internet, even when it has a good signal, it seems to do it just when i dial up a second time (when it times out). I get this too. There could be a few reasons. A few off the top of my head are: * Everyone in your area is using GPRS and there are no free GPRS packets/sockets/whatever * The Orange connection from GPRS to the net is flakey. * The SPV's buggy. I imagine most will say it's reason 3, cause it's easiest. Try a reboot and if that don't work then just leave it for a bit.
Guest adamh Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I had the "appears online but isn't" problem. I phoned orange they did a diagnosic and identified an unspecified problem. They then replaced my phone. The replacement phone has done it to me once in a week, and this was within 1/2 hour of turning it on. Strangely whilst my phone appears to be offline, and I can't make/receive calls/sms I can use GPRS to surf the internet! I appeared to get the problem more often when I'd left IE running in the background. (Which you have no choice over as it's impossible to close without backtracking through your whole history). adam
