Guest neilg Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Hi All, I have searched through the posts on the forum but I cannot find a recomendation for a program to convert some CD tracks to WAV. Can anyone recommend a program to use (I dont have anything with my soundcard etc). Does WMP or Realaudio do this and I am just being thick? Also the best settings would be useful. I am guessing using mono and a low sampling rate is the idea to keep the size down. Also is there a way fo getting the volume on sample up for ringtones?? Many Thanks, and please point me at another thread if I have missed one. :D

Guest DJ WATTS Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Can any1 help i need to know how to compress files for ringtones I use Cool Edit Pro 2 to convert my wav files into any quality i want. I usually take an mp3 version of a song i like/have on my HD and then convert that to WAV then chop that file to where i want and then alter it to get the most out of it. I find the best setting is WAV 44100 8bit mono is good enough for the phone without sacraficing too much quality. After all the phone is mono (without the headphones installed) so you dont need stereo out of the main loudspeaker. Also as a bonus you can do anything with this software like remove bass from a track (handy to get the phone not to distort when you set to max), increase high end (the phone plays this frequency well) and also you can chop, cut and arrange any way a WAV/MP3 file you see fit. It supports almost (if not) every audio format and is also a dam good multitrack studio, supports 24bit/96khz audio, 45 DSP effect like reverb, delay, Flanger etc, has various compressor settings (as something you mentioned in your post) and is generally accepted as the best you can get for audio manipulation and multitrack editing/recording. I for one being a Trance producer could not live without it. Link here for info and demo: http://www.syntrillium.com/cep/ Maybe try some dodgy place?;)
