Guest crimminsky Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 I had a scratch on my screen that was very irratating, I was telling a pal at work and he suggested using a fine T-cut and guess what....IT WORKED :D you can just see the scratch at a certain angle but it's only because I know its there. try it and see
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 a stupid qu maybe, but what is a T-cut?
Guest DJHope Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 T-Cut = Car polish, didnt get rid of my scratch tho, someone from switzerland said that displex screen cleaner would work but then ive no idea if it can be got in the uk. Definately a perspex cleaner is needed tho since the screen is plastic.
Guest Smiffy99 Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Whatever you call it - T-cut or Displex what you are doing is "Grinding" the screen back to remove the scratch. Any fine abrasive liqued will work and some, being more abrasive than others will work faster (less rubbing needed) However, to finish and bring back a really smooth surface use something that is very minimal in its abrasive properties such as Brasso etc so long as it does not react with the screen!

Guest pauld Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Brasso definately works. I've personally used it on watches, a Palm PDA screen and a plastic portable TV screen. Brings it back to new. Careful not to get the residue down the edge of the screen as it will be difficult to get out. Canned air might blow the stuff out. Good luck
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 hmm, my old school's workshop had one of those rotational polishers with big polish blocks to charge them up, used to use them to shine up metals on whatever "project" you were working on. could have an interesting effect on the phones screen hehe
Guest V0oD0o Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 I'll second Deemon. Toothpaste works very well, just rub it in, then rub off the excess. Doesn't work on massive deep scratches though. Mike
Guest PeterDelve Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Displex works a treat i have used it on a HP jornada 680, Psion 5mx T68i and the result is superb. the psion 5mx was years old and badly sratched but displex got rid of them all. It is available in the uk for about £6 you only get a small amount but it is all you will need for next few years. Search on google for "Displex" Pete
Guest jenka Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 After you have spread toothpaste, brasso, T-cut etc all over your screen and got the scratches out, Get a pack of low tack PDA screen covers (£10 from Currys in the U.K) cut one to size and stick it on = No more scratches = No more polishing = happy SPV user, YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!
Guest crimminsky Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 can you stick one on this message board, then I can peel it off and use it :D
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 hmm never mind the scratchs, i've just noticed the first little patch of dust under my screen, no toothpaste is goin to shift that :D
