Guest Aonz Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Has anyone recieved their SPV from TheMobileRepublic yet? I ordered mine from there more than a week ago; when they were FREE with Anytime 200, was told i would have it within 48hours. I finally rang them and was told i should reiceve it next week :D
Guest Gorskar Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 I had an email off them this morning saying that they had run out of stock, and were expecting limited stock in during the middle of next week... :D But on the + side that is less time that I have to pay for the contract, especially as Im still waiting for them to cease my old contract (damn 30 day notice
Guest Aonz Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 i got the email too, i'll have been waitin almost 3 weeks by the time i get it :( Well nevermind won't be ordering anything from there again :D
Guest Emad Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 TheMobileRepublic don't have the best customer support in the world, you need to trawl through a ton of pages before you can even find the number! Just splash out £30 and get it from this sites sponsers..
Guest stillwaiting Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 I ordered mine from them at the end of november and i still haven't got it.
Guest Gorskar Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 So how come you havn't cancelled the order then? Well, I'll give it a week (or until I find somewhere cheaper) and if it hasn't turned up by then I'll cancel and get it somewhere else.
Guest stillwaiting Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 I've already got myself one from The Link. I cancelled the order with MR after almost 4 weeks of waiting. I was just pointing out the fact their very unreliable.
Guest barncourt Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 why don't you cancel the order and get it from Orange directly? I had an order with Mobile Republic before Xmas open for 10 days... Cancelled, phone Orange and they despatch a phone to me within 48hrs! I kinda get the impression that Orange may be ensuring they take first presidence on availability of handsets rather than dealers. Ignore what the Orange web-site says about being "out of stock". You can order handsets if you phone them up.
Guest Gorskar Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 ... you can, providing you're willing to pay alot of money. But you're right, I might cancel the order and get from someplace else. I'll leave it a week to give em a chance, but if not then too bad.
Guest budda Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 But on the + side that is less time that I have to pay for the contract, especially as Im still waiting for them to cease my old contract (damn 30 day notice If you have an exisiting Orange contract (maybe other Netowkrs too) just phone up customer service and get it converted to a pay-as-you-go account which happens within 24 hours IIRC and they give you £5 credit to begin with!! It gets around the 30 day notice rule and saves you cash :D
Guest Gorskar Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I tried that but they still said they needed 30 days notice, which was wierd because last year I got it immediately.
Guest Ed Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Dear Ed J, Orange have informed us that we will be receiving some SPV's by mid next week. However, they have been unable to confirm the amount due to their severe stock problems nationwide. We will be in touch with you soon with a more precise update. Kind Regards, TheMobileRepublic.com
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 and yet i still haven't seen anyone but myself with one.
Guest timodonnell Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 Their service is terrible - I cancelled after waiting 3 weeks on a "48 hr" order. When I initially enquired if they had stock they didn't reply. I ordered, waited a week, pestered, was eventually told they were getting some in within 48 hours, waited a week (etc etc) so I cancelled and got mine from the Link just before Christmas.
Guest Aonz Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 Just received this email: Dear [edited], We apologise for the delay that you have experienced with your order. As you are aware there are major stock delays and shortages at Orange on your chosen handset. We have however recently added a new offer and thought you would might want to change your order to it. The Nokia 7210 which is available for free on Vodafone. Shipping of this will take 3 days whereas your existing order may take up to 2 weeks. But with no confirmation on stock availability, we cannot be sure. Please click on the following link for more details: http://www.themobilerepublic.com/viewphone...nok7210&did=323 Should you wish to go ahead and change your order please e-mail me directly Look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards Lewis Bullock TheMobileRepublic.com ffs :x
Guest Gorskar Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 I rung them up today to find out what was going on, and they told me they had an order coming in today but they didnt know how many so they couldnt say whether they could fulfil their orders. I dedided to leave it to see if I got it tommorow, but now with this email I can probably assume not, so I'll ring them up and cancel tommorow, and order from somewhere else, and I'll just have to bite the price difference. (at least £30 from what I can see :D )
Guest Gorskar Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Ok, I had enough of waiting for the mobile republic, so I've cancelled the order with them, and ordered from http://www.genietelecom.co.uk/genie/choose...SPV&network=ORA instead. They had phones in stock, and although I had to go for the slightly more expensive yourplan200 I did get 3 months free insurance, and it means that with any luck I should have an spv tommorow :D

How did you cancel with mobile republic? I can't see a cancel option on their site. Do you have a phone number you can give me?
Guest arawak Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Alternatively you could order from Carphone Warehouse on a price match with Mobile republic. You may have to call a couple of times to get the price match as it seems to depend on who you talk but it is possible. It's what I did
Guest Aonz Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Cancelled my order from TheMobileRepublic (had to ring them), placed a ordered at Onestopphoneshop.co.uk, they said they would be gettin a delivery tomorrow. But lookin at the Genietelecom.co.uk offer i wish i'd gone with them instead

Yes, It's buried quite deeply on their website 0870 840 8040 is the number you are looking for to contact themobilerepublic Now with any luck by this time tomorrow I'll have a shiny new spv from genietelecom ;)
Guest Gorskar Posted January 15, 2003 Report Posted January 15, 2003 Hey guess what, 24 hrs later, and an SPV is mine ;) Genietelecom delivered as promised! /me has wasted the whole day playing with it.
Guest Ed Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Hey guess what, 24 hrs later, and an SPV is mine ;) Genietelecom delivered as promised! /me has wasted the whole day playing with it. Guest Oli Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 problem is that, the genietelecom offer is not for the ovp anytime 200 like it was on mobilerepublic ;)(
