Date and Time resets with Power Off

:D

I like to power off my phone overnight. Only had it three days.

However, I have noticed that on a power cycle, date and time are reset to the defaults.

Anybody else encounter this, and have a fix?

I'll try a hard reset - but should I have the SD card in or out when I do this?

I'd take the SD out when hard reseting, but it shouldn't matter. This sounds like a fault with your phone so if a hard reset doesn't fix it then bitch at Orange.

I have exactly the same problem as yours and it pisses me off every morning. I reset to April 1st until I syncronise the phone. Looks like it's another bug. Anynody else encountered this problem?

Hard reset worked. Now the time and date don't change every power off, and the phone is much faster now. Yippee!!!

Hmmm..

My hard reset initally appeared to have solved the problem - and then it came back.

Orange think the phone is faulty - and have suggested I go back to onestopphoneshop.com and organise a replacement (they have no stock themselves).

However, this means sending the phone back special delivery at my cost, and then getting them to send me a new one, with new SIM and number.

Now, I am everyphoning calls from my old phone, so the new number is not a major hassle, but I don't really fancy having a contract cease and then another new one on my account.

So I'll try the hard reset again....

They wouldn't give you a new SIM and phone number. Keep it and send the phone back without it! And get them to reimburse you the delivery!

I seem to be experiencing the same problem.

I had my damaged SPV replaced a couple of weeks ago, by Orange Care, and the new one resets to 12:00 on the 26th November 2003 if I turn it off for more than about five minutes (it seems to retain the correct settings if I do a quick power cycle).

I've spoken to Orange a number of times and they keep trying to send me sim updates (which never get through) to fix the problem, they have also referred it to their tech support people which takes "7 to 10 days for a response" (so yeah, two weeks later - no response!).

I just reckon they gave me a dodgy reconditioned phone and that they should replace it, I shall let you know what happens.

When tech support finally got back to me this is exactly what happened
