Does anyone have the london tube map program? Is it worth 10 quid?

It's quite smart!

Worth 10 quid? Depends how much you are going to use it!

Is there a trial for this anywhere I can get hold of?

I would like to try before I buy, as 10 squids is a fair bit to replace a free piece of paper, even if it is nice and showy. I'd have thought this piece of software would be an ideal thing to push out at a promo price - I probably wouldn't hesitate if it was under £5.

I agree, it's a bit pricey considering now I've been using the tube for a number of months I normally know where everything is.

I had a good metro quide for my Palm OS PDA which had info for pretty much all major underground systems world wide and it was 100% free, so I find £10 to be crazy especially as if you bought Paris as well that'd be another £10.

Maybe if it was £10 for the system and then all cities currentlly or added in the future were free then I'd probably buy it. These things are fantastic when you travel to a foreign city on holiday cos you can do all you're navigation based on station names.

i'vve got it and the paris 1. wouldn't say its worth £10 its more for novelty value than anything else, however i agree with the comment above that the program is worth £10 if all the addition cities were free (and there is quite a few available now) but its not the case, each city costs another tenner.

bottom line very good but over priced utility.

I still carry around my Palm Vx in my pocket, so I use Metro on that - fab piece of software, you enter two stations and it calculates the shortest route between them and estimates time, free maps for most cities.. Vindigo on the Palm had a similar thing, but with all the roads too! Walk down this street 300 yards, take a left, etc etc. Also reviews galore of restaurants and zoomable maps. That was £16 per year, as many cities as you like (I think). Its already on PocketPC, so it'll probably come out for smartphone once the certification mess is sorted.. Much better value than £10 for a zoomable map..

Has anyone heard anything more on the streetmap sync software for smartphone? That would be more useful for someone like me, who doesnt live in a city with an underground system :D

I wouldn't pay for it...I mean...how difficult can it be to look at a map on the wall in the station... a bit gimmicky if you ask me...

Couldn't you just scan a tube map, save as a jpeg and use IA Album to navigate around it? Not tried it but I don't see why this wouldn't work. Ok so you don't have the route planning functions that you probably get with the official app but the London tube map is hardly rocket science to plan a journey. Spend your tenner (or £13 ..) on the latest IA Album...now that's money well spent..
