Guest Thistle Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 OKay here's my problem. When my phone is switched on the back light is constantly on and will not switch off and is thus burning through that battery in a few hours. I switch it on at about 8am and the battery is normally dead between 1-3pm, very annoying seeing as im only halfway through my working day. When i first got the phone the battery was lasting just under 24 hours, but since formatting my handset with a hard reset, the back light has been constantly on, the keypad lights go off, but not the screens back light (very strange). What would cause this? Is it a software issue that i can fix manually? Perhaps another hard reset will rectify this issue, but I'm happy with my layout and cant be bothered faffin' about putting all the programs back on. So I thought I would ask u guys first to c if anyone had a similar problem and was able to sort it out, or weather I need to do another reset to factory settings, or weather i need to contact Orange and tell them i have a dodgy handset. Thx in advance.
Guest crimminsky Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I'd try another hard reset if I were you, sounds like something didn't quite go right......what have you got the backlight set to in power management?
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Have you been playing games from hexacto? They often lock the backlight on and if you don't exit cleanly (by pressing the back button) the light stays on. But you're talking about hard resets so I guess it's not something that simple so it might well be a fault
Guest Thistle Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I have the time out set @ 5 mins
Guest Thistle Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 hmmm...I have been playing Tennis addict alot, and I'm sure it started happening since then, Thx for the fast response guys, I'm gonna go check it out :D
Guest crimminsky Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 try a reset then, you can't go on with that battery life!!!
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 If you load the offending game and then exit cleanly it should reset it back to normal backlight mode.
Guest Thistle Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Cheers Spacy Monkey u hit the nail on the head, dam u addictive games, dam u to hell :D Just a pity i found out this time of day my battery is now at 1 bar, gah! Note to self: remember and press "back button" when leaving a game. Again m8, cheers wierd how something as simple can be so infuriating
Guest Thistle Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 ...now that I'v over come that hurdle I have another issue, u maybe able to help me with this one 2 monkey. When I'm playing games ie "Tennis Addict" after 3 or 4 mins of play it exits the game and returns back to the home page. I'm not having a good day :?
Guest Thistle Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 ...hmmmm...its doing it with all my applications now, this is worrying, hurdle after hurdle....
Guest crimminsky Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 tennis addict does this when theres not enough memory to run the game....make sure you have closed all your programs...even if it means pressing the back button 50 times!!
Guest zenabi Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 ...hmmmm...its doing it with all my applications now, this is worrying, hurdle after hurdle.... Also make sure the "Time out" setting in the Home Screen settings is set to Never.
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Setting Time out on homescreen to Never also makes the menus navigate faster for some bizarre reason.
Guest Shire29 Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 Yep it's yer timeout m8, had the same problem meself. Cheers, Shire
