PLEASE HELP: unlocking an spv?

I have bought an spv in CH. Now I would like to use it with my italian sim.

How can I unlock the spv?

I think the only way you can get it unlocked is to ring orange at the moment. They will charge you for the privalege (I think around about £30) and I think I heard that they won't do it within the 1st 3 months of your contract, although you don't know till you try.

The WILL do it in the first 3 months of your contract.

They'll do it, but Oftel only obliges them to do it after the first three months - Orange are entitled to (and from what I here, do) bill you for your year's contract before the phone is unlocked.

Have your tried to plug the phone, switch it on and then after everything is up and running take out the battery and exchange the sim card and put the battery back. If your lucky, the phone will now operate with the Italian Sim (however takes about 2 minutes). The trick doesn't seem to work for all Networks but it's worth trying.

used my phone with a different sim abroad for 3 weeks - what can i say, - works a treat untill locks up or just crashes for no reason - and you're left with no comm. with outer world untill yuo find that charger and go through the 5min process again.

Important that the network is found on orange sim or it says Network Denied.. Searching.. before you switch the sim cards.. Mi PINs on both cards are the same.

got mine off ebay! and use pay as you go. so what do i do about that?????? does anyone know cause i dont mind paying £20/25
