Guest Toxics Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 I liked this phone I really did, despite its many flaws I liked it alot.. True the mp3 playback wasnt of the same quality as my old sl45 and it had a few little interface bugs. But I ignored them all and just concentrated on the good points.. So anyway tonight I was playing on my computer with the phone sat in the cradle at its side when suddenly i notice it has locked up with a message about there not being enough memory to run this program on the screen? WTF I thought, since I have done nothing with the phone for over a week, it has just been sat there in the cradle. Not to worry I thought and just simply reset it and oh dear next time i turn it on it locks on the orange startup screen. I leave it for 15 minutes before I restart it again, this time it doesnt even start up. So after playing around with it for a while I go look on the net for a hard reset method. After applying this technique the phone now starts up but takes at least 2 minutes and hangs on each screen. Unless by some miricle it remedies itself by tommorrow I am going to be ringing orange and requesting a swap for a new handset of a different model as the phone is now in my eyes clearly unfit for the purposes it was sold. This technology is new and interesting but far from being ready for release. Anyone else had a similar problem by any chance and can suggest a fix? Anyway thats my rant over with! Bye bye! Dave
Guest Emad Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 There have been other people who've complained of a lockup on the start screen - seems to be a handset bug.. Ask them for a replacement if you want to persevere, I've had mine over a month and there's been no probs at all. Your choice.
Guest Smiffy99 Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 The SPV is so intelligent that it needs constant reassurance that you are happy with it. That you say you left it inthe cradle for a week probably demonstrated that you were ignoring it and it decided to go off in a sulk....
Guest Amaze Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 I've had mine from the release date and there's been no serious probs at all. :D Only the low memory error, that makes the phone hang, because there is no memory left for the phone to operate. btw. It will kill it self at some point, when it rans out of memory from recieved mesages and too many stored ringtones  And ofcause the apps. running in background problem. At last, the probs everyone have with backlight, contacts and phone do not end calls. :? But no serious "replacement of handset" errors. :(
