Guest youngerpants Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 Hi all, I've got a new tip to speed up your SPV's navigation which I have just read on another web site (www.col1.f2s.com). Searched this forum and saw no mention of it; Turn Multipress time out to 1/2 second in PROGRAMS->SETTINGS->ACCESSIBILITY Seemed to work well for me, noticably faster
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 Best speed up tip since the original turn the keypad tones off :D Nice post cheers
Guest cplowman Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 BLOODY HELL!!!!! IT WORKS!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!
Guest Emad Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 Blimey. Why the hell did Orange make it so slow to start with?? Ah, the lack of testing. That would be the one.
Guest youngerpants Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 OK, sorry for artificially bumping this tip back to the top, but EVERYONE should update this setting. My phone has no menu lag at all now I have changed the accessibility settings. It does exactly what it says on the tin, makes the SPV work just like a normal phone (only better  )
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 Cant say i notice a huge amount of improvement...
Guest Bazz Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 Seems a lot better to me. Could be wishful thinking though...
Guest Jedra Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 Nice one! It works like a dream :D
Guest Spell Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Great! Moreover now you can write sms/emails a lot faster...! 8)
Guest Prits_uk2002 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 so for asking a stupid question but what actually in basic terms does multipress timeout do?
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 You know when typing in text boxes (sms messages etc) the line stays under the letter you type for a while and then vanishes. The multipress timeout sets how long this stays on for. IE it gives you more or less time to select a character. Just reread my post and don't know if it makes sense hope so :?
Guest Myke Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 so it doesnt exactly "speed up your SPV's navigation ".. it just lets you type fasteR?
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I think pre-update it made the phone navigate menus a bit quicker but now it doesn't seem to do much except that :?
Guest mik_an Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Im sorry but this is not a new speed tip. I have been using this almost since i got my SPV i december. I can't remember where i read about it, but now its even listed on the official Danish Orange site's tips and tricks. Sæt multi-tast hastigheden ned: a: Vælg programmer > indstillinger > tilgængelighed b: Sæt multipres time out til ½ sekund Dette gør, at telefonen reagerer hurtigere, når du trykker på knapperne, fordi at den nu kun venter den halve tid før den udfører den ønskede handling (den tid et dobbeltklik skal ske indenfor, er sat ned). http://orange.dk/spv/tipstricks/#11
Guest mik_an Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Just realised this tip was from january. Sorry about that. My only excuse is this is early monday morning.
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 No worries mate. I was just about to reply and then didn't :) Same reason as you.....way to early in the morn. Never mind almost bed time :?
Guest BAMN Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 im sure this has been posted before quite a while ago.

Guest looeee Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I find that I can't type email/sms with this setting turned town to 1/2 second. Because it affects how much time you have when repeatedly pushing buttons (7777 = s) I find that 1/2 a second is just a little too sensitive. in the registry, HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelAccessibility you can change the equivalent setting CharTimeout I prefer 650 miliseconds as a compromise looeee
