Same screen size, same number of colors, same memory size, same processor family, same kernel: windows CE... Recent events: AlphaCell signs purchase and distribution agreement with The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC. AlphaCell and Flextronics sign manufacturing agreement . The devices will feature advanced capabilities including MMS, video streaming & download, video messaging, MP3 playback, still image digital camera, personal information management, internet browsing and more. The devices will be phone-size in a slim form factor and a unique colour TFT touch display that will cover the entire front of the device and allow maximum viewing area. The device will also be Java enabled, and will come with an integrated swivel colour camera and a built-in stylus pen. These devices will be operating on standard GSM and GPRS networks available throughout Europe and in most parts of the world and will support 2G, 2.5G and 3G network features and capabilities. The prototype phone form-factor and electronic board will be ready by the end of this quarter with commercial availability expected within 14 months of that time. AlphaCell is a joint venture of Emblaze Systems, Polar Investments Ltd. and Leader Holdings and Investments Ltd. "This is an important deal. CPW are a leading provider of mobile devices to the mass market and have a very strong understanding of the mobile business," said Avner Mor, CEO AlphaCell. The Carphone Warehouse Group had EUR 900 million turnover last year. Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 M5: looks nice, slightly bigger screen and voice dialing, but with the processor not being much faster than the spv's, i'm not sure how smoothly it will run. No bluetooth in this lower model either. It does have dedicated video hardware biult in though, which will make video conferencing/playback a lot easer to watch, It supports polyphonic ringtones :(, but why does it only have usb 1.1 support though? :/ M6: Bigger screen. practically the same spec though, same cpu, but does have WAP 2 support, built in camera (again with dedicated hardware support), touchscreen and bluetooth :D Java support and SD port. I just wonder how well a 140mhz cpu is gonig to cope with all this... Looks like the M6 is CPW's answer ot he xda :(. Guess we'll soon see how well they run
