Its tricky getting phone numbers from your Contacts list

I've now had my M2000 for a week or so and am very pleased with it overall.

However, the on-screen phone dialler isn't nearly as user-friendly as the excellent version on my old E200. The E200 uses the keypresses to narrow down possible people from the Contacts list - ie pressing "5" calls up a list of anyone whose first name or surname begins "J", "K" or "L"; subsequent keypresses narrow down the list further.

Once you've found the person you're looking for, clicking on their name calls up all their various numbers (home/mobile/office etc) and one more click makes the call.

Lengthy to explain (if you haven't seen it in action) but very intuitive and fast to use!

The M2000 doesn't seem to do this. You can trawl through the Contacts list by tapping on names on screen, but this is fiddly using a fingernail.

So - is there a way of using the nice big on-screen phone dialler keypad to search through the Contacts list? Or maybe a third party dialler app that is more user-friendly?

You need intellidialler installing... does exactly the same thing as the e200 did. Try using google to find it... I can't remember where I got it from.

attached is intellidial plus intellipad (T9 input method)

copy .cab to the XDAIIs/M2000 and click to install...........only thing is that it will change the dialler skin........small price to pay for the facility to filter down contacts like the E200

with intellipad (T9) remember to change default dictionary to english........unless you are german !

also, I have attached a slightly nicer skin that another user created on another forum..........no credit to me whatsoever, this was created by another forum contributor........changes T-Mobile default dialler skin to a more pleasing on the eye O2 style (although, it is pretty discreet)

just unzip on the desktop and copy to /windows on the M2000/XDAIIs via activesync

I installed this. Sometimes, it doesn't work properly though and I can see the homescreen where the list of contacts is suppsed to be.

Thanks

I am using an Orange SPV M2000. Works fine most of the time, just occasionally get this painting problem.

Not changed the skin yet. I prefer the TMobile one to the O2, I'll wait until someone comes up with an "Orange" one.

Hi boyo69 -

Thank you v. much for the advice. I finally got round to installing the two files - but apart from changing the skin of the standard Phone app to a T-Mobile look, nothing has happened!

I can't see Intellidialler in the list of Programs, even though the Cab files chuntered away and apparently installed the components.

How do you access Intellidialler / set it as the default dialler?

On my PDA2K it just comes up when you hit the green tele button.

Jezza, it's more of a plugin than a separate application, so the most you'll notice is a small window coming up when you type a number.

Apart from that the phone app won't look much different.

Still no luck - when I type in a number, no popup or lookup happens..

Does it matter where you copy the CAB files to on the M2000 (I created an "Intellidialler" subdirectory in "Program Files" and put them in there), or the order that you open the CAB files (I opened T9.CAB then IntelliDialer_T-Mobile_WWE_RC10.CAB)?

Just extract all the files in the zip file to the windows folder on the device. Do not create a directory on your PPC. Just extract the files on your PC and copy the lot directly to the My DeviceWindows directory. They do not go in a sub folder.

Can anyone do a guide, and then maybe make it a sticky, as a few people seem to be having problems. :)

Mine just started working - I've soft-reset it a couple of times since installing the CABs, which did the trick :)

btw 73bugcab, you need to be logged in to access the CABs. I had trouble downloading from one PC, which I think was due to my firewall settings - if you have similar probs ie you can see the CABs but they download with 0 byte file size, try using another PC..
