Some advice needed:

I'm about to replace my E200 and having been told by Orange as I will be 11 months through my contract next week, I can have:

1) M1000 for nothing

2) M2000 for £115

3) M2000 for nothing if I wait until January when my 12 months are up

Which should I go for? M2000 is obviously newer and has better battery life, and I'd like the ability to change the system font size and the improved version of IE, but I don't need Wi-Fi and probably wouldn't use the keyboard much.

In fact, if anything the keyboard is putting me off, as there seem to be quite a few reports of it being a bit loose. None of the other bugs reported would bother me much, but the M1000 doesn't seem to have any at all (or no-one's mentioned them).

Also, do Orange still have stocks of the M2000 anyway, or are they all out?

(Think I've talked myself into the M1000 haven't I?!)

You may as well wait until January as even if you order an M2000 now you wont get it till January as they are out of stock!

I have a few M2000's and none of the keyboards are a problem. What you have to realise is that there have been thousands of M2000's sold already and maybe 10 reports of loose keyboards?

Go for the M2000 mate you wont be sorry!

I'm with dade on this one... I never owned an M1000 but as far as i can see the M2000 has pretty much improved on it in everyway.

Remember if you get an M1000 you will be buying a device that is already an old model, so i personally wouldnt really see it as an 'upgrade' as such as you would be replacing your E200 with something of the same generation, or age if you follow me.

Also, I have had my M2000 for a while now and my keyboard is fine, in fact if it was any tighter i think i would find it too difficult to open. I guess its just a personal think how easy or tough you want it to be to move the keyboard.

Thanks for the advice

I'm going to try to wait for the M2000, and just hope that come January they don't have too big a backlog of orders.

(Mind you, my will-power isn't that great, so if I post on here next week saying "have just got an M1000", don't be too surprised!)

I have already had an m2000 slide go loose on me....mind you i did drop it quite badly(ahhh the joys of Orange care) The replacement has been excellant...am using it with a 512 sd card and it accesses real fast, even when multi-tasking...hardly any jams or lockups that i used to get on the m1000, and the keyboard....brilliant

Just had my hopes raised then dashed by Orange.

Was offered the M1000 free on upgrade only to call back and be told that it's out of stock and they don't know when it'll be available.

Would consider the M2000 but can't afford it...

That's the wierd thing. The Orange rep said 'the M2000 isn't even on our system anymore. The M1000 is but it's not in stock.'

Was it for a new contract or an upgrade?

Perhaps its not on their systems at the moment as they are very short of supply. Or perhaps the rep you spoke to wasn't the brightest crayon in the box.

Well, it was actually the disconnections dept :?

They had just persuaded me to stay with them by offering me a free C500 on one of my numbers and a free M1000 on the other, along with an improvement in value on both of my tariffs. That is, until they had to admit the M1000 wasn't in stock. :)
