Keypad autolock, unlock broken

I seem to have an interesting problem with my C500. I pulled my phone out of my pocket earlier this evening and went to unlock it. Pressing soft 1 does nothing but cause the screen to light up. To get the unlock button to highlight I have to push joystick down and hit soft key 1 at same time. However, I have been unable to find a combination to do #.

This leads me to the problem. Phone is locked, cant unlock it. Ok, so http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset. Oh wait, whats this ? No way to turn phone off. Remove battery, wait, reattach... auto boots up.

It kinda appears if the keypad has totally packed in. I called the phone from another mobile, and cannot select Accept or Reject. They screen lights up fine, but nothing else happens.

Tried running the Orange firmware update (vain hope), but it claimed it couldnt communicate with mobile so I gave up with that.

Any one got any ideas ? I'm also away from the uk so cannot just goto Orange and yell at them :)

ooh... i had this and posted up ages ago..... check that your power button isnt jammed in... mine got jammed in by a cheap case i was using.. i stuck a knife around the edge and released it but now i have a knackered, scrathced power button :-( ...
