Hey,

My phone arrived today (Woohoo!)and it is currently doing its first charge. I realise (from my RC hobby days) that cycling batteries is very important for the first few charges. Anyway the manual for ther C500 says first charge should be a minimum of 3 hours. Now as much as I want to get my hands on it I don't mind leaving it for longer if it will benefit the battery and its life.

So, then, what would you advise for a first charge? What yields the best results? Any help appriciated.

Many Thanks

Dan.

This has been discussed before - if you do a http://www.modaco.com/search.php>Search I'm sure you can find the relevent threads.

I couldn't wait to use my phone so didn't bother with a first charge (it was allready charged) and have no noticable loss in battery life, modren batteries aren't that fussy.

Not true, li ion batterys are a big improvement over what we have had in the past, they dont suffer from memory effect etc, however they can be inefficent if not given a full charge when new.

Basically when you get the phone there is no way of knowing if all cells are active, so the battery bases the battery indicator stats on the cells that are active (giving a false reading if not all cells are acttve)

The cells come online when a full charge is given to the battery, hence using straight from the box is not best practice. I would charge for say 5 or 6 hours
