Guest ospre Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Using SPV C500 on UK Orange Network. When I had my SPV E200 my "Data Call" Timer (Call History >> View Timers) never used to register any time when I was accessing the Internet or log onto MSN Messenger, however, having just upgraded to a SPV C500 I note that whenever I use the Internet the time in the "Data Call" field increases with the length that I've been on. Is this a change between the E200 and the C500 or am I using WAP instead of GPRS, in which case how do I switch back to GPRS. Thanks, Nick.
Guest martin Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Having just upgraded to a SPV C500 I note that whenever I use the Internet the time in the "Data Call" field increases with the length that I've been on.You're right, it increases the data call timer. I never noticed that before :) As long you have a small G showing next to the signal bars when you make a data call then you are using GPRS. The only exception is when you are using the smartphone as a modem as this will show two arrows even when transfering data across the GPRS network. I wouldn't worry about the data call timer increasing with GPRS although it's not going to be very helpful if you are also trying to keep track of your CSD data calls
Guest ospre Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Thanks, yes the G is appearing so all is in order. Nick.
Guest Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Also, it's not a choice of WAP OR GPRS. WAP is the service, and GPRS is how it is delivered. WAP can be via CSD or GPRS - ie, a bit like dial-up internet or broadband internet.
