Total Newbie Seeks Advice Please

Hi there everyone, I've just joined the world of the SPV C500 users (bought it yesterday on a pay as you go deal from Orange) and before I start to use it, I wanted to canvass the forum users for advice and helpful information please.

Firstly, I'd like some advice on unlocking the phone and opening it up for use with my current Vodaphone contract SIM. I know I will lose some of the Orange features but I would prefer to use the Vodaphone service as it offers the best coverage in my area. So can you please offer me advice on how to:

a) Unlock the phone to all networks

:) Set up the phone for Vodaphone settings

Any other advice on modifications, updates, software etc would all be gratefully appreciated.....preferably with a step by step style guide (as I'm not that familiar with the phone .... always used Nokias prior to this purchase).

Please also excuse me if this should have been posted in another section or area on the forum, this is my first post here and I am yet to learn the Modaco etiquette.

If you have a look in the Smartphones -> HTC Voyager sectiion (the C500 is an HTC Voyager) you will find the answers tomost things. Have a look round and enjoy your new phone.

For SIM unlocking you have www.imei-check.com which charge £20

They have is a fast reliable service that works every time.

The two must have applications are Smart Explorer and Task Manager from http://www.binarys.com both are shareware applications.

Thanks guys, I'm now at a stage where I have a C500 working on the basic Vodaphone service (yet to update the settings for GPRS etc), the phone is security unlocked and last but not least, I've managed to add my long list of names and numbers onto it.

So I guess the next thing is to take a look at these programs that Ashley has suggested. :)
