Guest Honest John Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 (edited) I wonder if any of you guys can help me? After using Onestopphoneshop quite successfully for a couple of years, I have now had a problem with my second cashback claim on the phone I bought in June 2004. The 1st Cashback in September was processed no problem with just a letter, relevant bill and copy of the Invoice. I therefore repeated the exercise in early December, but when I rang and asked where my 2nd cashback payment was, they said I hadn't included the Redemption Certificate so no cashback. Goodbye £150 or so. As if....................... Now having bought a new C500 in December (before the cashback problem came to light), I see that they have changed their procedures and I have the paperwork for that phone including the Redemption Certificates, but I am 100% sure that in June I did not get any certificates and, anyway, they processed the September claim without me sending any certificates in. So, guys, simple question. If any of you bought a mobile from Onestop in either May, June or July 2004, I would be grateful if you would let me know if you got any redemption certificates with your phone. I am trying to find out independently when they introduced the redemption certificate procedures. It's a shame, because I have always supported Onestop before but their Customer Services are not terribly helpful. Thanks, as always. Edited December 31, 2004 by Honest John

I think you lucky to of got some of your cashback because ALL my friends that used them didnt get any, they kept making up excuses for each one.
Guest Confucious Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Oh dear! I have in the past received cashback from Scancomm and A1comms with no problems at all, I just had to fax in my 4th month bill or whichever month it was and I received a cheque. This sounds like the sort of thing you hear about just before a company goes into liquidation, they've probably promised a lot and now the chickens are coming home to roost.. I have not used onestop but I've never heard of certificates being issued. It doesn't sound good, does it? Hope you get your money. Good luck.
Guest mcwarre Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 I think you lucky to of got some of your cashback because ALL my friends that used them didnt get any, they kept making up excuses for each one. I have used them for four phones over two years with not a single problem. They have always issued cashback forms with their phones (since 2002 at least) which are included with the paper work when you get it. The problem where some may not get their cashback is probably due to the fact that they have not followed the terms and conditions correctly: 1. x cashback at m3. 3 months after being connected (not airtime bill) and have 45 days to claim cashback. 2. copy first 2 pages of most recent airtime bill and attach to gift redemption certificate. and send to correct place. include page that states which tarrif you are on. Make sure no outstanding amounts carried over. 3. within 21 days you will receive a cheque. Whats difficult about that? If your admin and english is in order it is quite simple. I would advise to send it recorded tho'. :) :(
Guest Confucious Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 (edited) Not as simple as any place I've had cashback from! it relies on you not losing the certificatewhich I, almost certainly would do. i normally just type the instructions into Outlook and get it to remind me when it's due, filing is not my strong point.... Guest mcwarre Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 it relies on you not losing the certificate which I, almost certainly would do. There in lies the tale :) :( As it is worth a lot of money I file it safely   Honet John, Attached is the front page of the info I received with the phone if that is any help...........
Guest Confucious Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 (edited) Whenever I file things safely I can NEVER find them again - D'Oh :) Edited January 6, 2005 by Confucious
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 NEVER buy from onestop! They are the most company I've ever had the misfortune to make a purchase from. Just think - if they honoured all the pay-backs, they'd be out of business. The deals might look good, but things are not what they seem. Beware!

They told me that for x cashback at m4, I wait 4 months from my connection date, and send them the next bill I recieve. As this contradicts their written instructions, I rang again, and somebody else told me the same thing. Now I am really confused. I've emailed them to ask them to tell me which bills to send them, but haven't yet got a reply.

I've just bought one and it says to send your most recent invoice after month n. Assuming the next bill doesn't take longer than 45 days to arrive (the claim window) you can do what they say and still be covered!

However, the telephone customer service line said that I should send them the one I get on May 10th. Unless somebody can clarify this, I'll probably wait until May 10th and send them my claim certificate, and the first 2 copied pages of my May and April bills.

Guest Honest John Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Thanks for the replies, guys. I must take issue with the date of redemption certs coming in. I bought 2 phones in 2003 (June and December) and have the paperwork and I got the cashbacks. As I said, the phone I got in December 2004 does have the redemption certs, so I do not anticipate any problem. Redemption certs were not in use in 2003 and I just had aletter from their Andrew Palmer where he states that "the old paperwork was discontinued in January 2004". I still believe that I got the old paperwork in June 2004, but can'rt prove it. I have an open mind about them. Certainly lots of bad words about them on the web although this is the first time I have had a problem. I think I will play belt and braces next time. Onestop are nearly always the cheapest. However, many of the others "will match any genuine deal on the web". So, I will get Onestop's web page and ring one of the others such as the online subsidiary of carphone warehouse!!!
