Guest Dean123 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 (edited) Not sure if this has been done already but: Only had my C500 phone for a day and i love the orange homescreen, but i want to use http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>plugins aswell. Had a http://www.modaco.com/search.php>Search and saw that there were loads of problems getting pluginsto work (screen scrolling etc). I've hacked the homescreen so you can have a plugin at the bottom, where the internet links used to be. The whole screen (orange plugin and added plugin) must be less then 180px, otherwise you get the scrolling. Clicks in the http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>plugins also work. I've made an example with rjtime as i wanted an analog clock. At the moment the background of the plugin is a light grey colour and not the transparent grey colour like the orange menu. I'll have a look into it, any pointers would be great, as i've not used xml before. Installation, just put the xml file in \storage\Application Data\Home OrangeHomescreen.home.xml Edited December 31, 2004 by Dean123
Guest drblow Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 OK - I like what you've done, but have you actually 'hacked' the plugin? Can you remove different elements other than the links? Or have you just changed the height of the plugin to 150 allowing another plugin to fit on the bottom?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Yes, I too like what you've done and I'm now using it because I like having the analogue clock. :( You should be able to find all the info you need to improve it in the Customisation section and I'll be looking forward to your sorting out the transparency issue. Another thing is that you have the digital time in 2 places now. Good luck with it :)
Guest Rod Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 You got me all excited there, thought someone had finally cracked it. However it doesn't really work because when you press down on the orange plugin it wont let you select the options, they only work if you are going up the way. But its good that you're trying. Hopefully someday the plugin will be properly cracked. All I would like changed is the first menu option changed to show 'profile' and 'alarm' when you select it instead of 'contacts' and 'add new contact'.
Guest Dean123 Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 OK, maybe i did get a bit ahead of myself, its not a true hack, just squeezing the plugin so another one can appear at the bottom. As for adding the semi-transparent background so the background of the second plugin pokes through, i doubt that'll ever work using this way. At the end of the day its better then a kick in the face, i have an analog clock and my phone number displayed on my homescreen and thats all i want.
Guest drblow Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 You could emulate the transparency by a bit of clever photoshopping. RJtime will allow bgimages.
Guest Dean123 Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 (edited) i've had a look at the orange dll and it is possible to change the links, they are hard-coded into the dll, but these can be change with a hex editor. the problem im having at the mo is, i can't get the plugin to load my hacked dll, ive tried creating a new clsid in the registry, but that didn't work, perhaps i haveto change it elsewhere aswell. regarding the transparencey, i think its imposssible, as theyare 2 seperate http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>plugins. Guest Rod Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Thats good news that it might be possible to change the links. Wish I could help you but I can only do xml and know nothing about dll files! Please keep trying though.
Guest drblow Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 There is a guide to customising this plugin HERE, by Crafty. You can change the weblinks just in the xml. I think you can add up to six, buyt I'm not sure. But I know I changed them just by opening the xml. I don't have a copy of the xml coz I dleted it from my phone, but if someone wants to upload it, I'll show you how to change the urls. & I wouldn't hold out much chance of any further customisation to this plugin. The legendary geniuses at O have clearly decided that having customisable http://www.modaco.com/viewforum.php?f=43>homescreens is too embarrassing for them, coz we usually take their work & make it a few thousand times better!! The C500 plugin is 3rd party (Abaxia), and I have had no reply whatsoever to the several emails I have sent O/Abaxia, requesting some kind of documentation on how to customise the plugin. The xml is basically closed to changes, and the dll file would need to be completely back-engineered to get any ideas about how to change it. Shame really, coz it could be quite good with a little tweaking. Anyone that manages to unravel the plugin will be praised on high I'm sure! :)
Guest Rod Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 What does the following piece of xml do? Its in the C500 orange homescreen just after the scheme stuff and before the iconbar. I know the first bunch of numbers is the orange homescreen plugin from E200 and the second bunch is the big C500 orange plugin we can't crack, but what does this bit actually do? I removed it and nothing changed. What does id="notify" mean?
Guest cstmx_ryder Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Is this gonna work on a Samsung Blackjack (i607)??
