Help Needed - No sound while playing Media Player

Hi,

On my unlocked SMT5600, i do not have any sound when playing sound files, movie files or any ring tones via Pocket TV or media player.

I do have sounds when I do get text messages or phone calls.

I've rebooted the phone several times, no luck

Please help

...this is my first post on Modaco - I hope this helps...

Over the past couple of weeks I had noticed the same problem on my phone. My MP3s stopped playing and none of my games had sound.

Everything appeared to work fine, but NO SOUND. I deceided to perform a <a http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=ST&f=1...62&st=0>HARD RESET</a> and reinstall only the software that I use (i.e. I got rid of all the demo apps and stuff).

However I was concerned about losing all my Text messages and photos and couldn't be bothered to locate the files and manually back them up onto the PC using ActiveSync.

Today (after my Christmas break) I performed the following:

* installed spritebackup onto my PC and Phone

* made a backup of my phone onto the PC

* performed the <a http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=ST&f=1...62&st=0>HARD RESET</a> (see other threads for this)

* reinstalled spritebackup onto the phone

* restored my user data

I've lost all my themes (which I can always reinstall) but the phone now works again.

The beauty of this method is that the SDCARD was untouched and therefore all my MP3's and other files were still there.

All I need to do now is reinstall the stuff that I know I need.

This is, of course, a bit of a bodge as I haven't solved the problem and I don't know what went wrong.

Thas quite odd actually. Get the backup you need. Then hardreset, but dont install anything. Just try to play an MP3 file off the SD card. If there is no sound, you might wana contact Customer Support, if there is sound, then start installing all your programs one by one, and after each installation, reset the fone and retry playing an audio file. If after installing a program, you dont get sound on media playback, then you got your critter.

Remember to first check that you haven't accidently turned the volume right down on the phone (left side button) as this means OFF for those applications.
