Major decision!

Im here to ask the same question many people tend to ask in this place. The question of what now.

Its hard to believe that i have been a E200 owner for the last year, the time has flown past quickly. And on the whole Im very happy...... But now the year is up i want a new phone.

I have decided to start afresh with tariff as well, i've learn't that as a student i can recieve deals from Orange (for those of you interested http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/students )

Ok so the scene is set, New tariff, new phone. But which phone?

The obvious choice is the C500, but really its the same as my E200 with some small diffrences, and the added downfall i have to buy a MiniSD. Oh and what is the diiffrence between c500 and c500s?

M2000 - I'd love one but they're too expensive

M1000 - is this a good option? its out of date and hasn't got a keyboard and as im told by a original XDA user its quite a handy cap.

WHat are motorola doing these days with smartphones?

Also im trying to work out if i can be bothered with another smartphone. I don't use much of the smartphone features except WMP for WMAs and MP3 and the occasional film.

MP3 player is a MAJOR factor in this, and too be honest im not impressed with nokia's performance in that area and so im reluctant to go down that road.

Ok People i have rambeled on long enough, please i would appreciate it if you would through yours suggestions my way.

You also have the MPX220 which id due out at some point in the New Year.

I do like the C500 though and it is my phone of choice at the moment.

M1000 is still a good phone, if you want a PocketPC Phone, but if you don't use many of the Smartphone features it may well not be a good choice.

I've never been a fan of Moto's so couldn't advise you on them

Nokia (and probably some others) have some potentially interesting Series60 phones out - I don't know all the model numbers, but I quite like the new flip phone with the reversible screen.

I'm a C500 user, and I love mine. BetaPlayer (free, in case you don't know it) would suit your music needs and possibly your movies too.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The reduced size and weight, along with the far greater stabillity, is to me a huge difference.

Nobody says to me "Yeah great but it's a brick" anymore and I've yet to need a http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset. I've actually lost touch with the app. unlocking process since getting the C500 whereas it was a monthly necessity with the E200.

The MPx220 is a bit of a disappointment to hold, given that it looks just like its predecessor, but the MPx (or whatever it's called now) with its dual-hinge screen is very sexy if a little large for everyday use.

The only device to rival the C500 for my hard-earned is the i-Mate Jam. Check out the MoDaCo shop but get one in your hand to really appreciate its beauty !

Thanks guys, Its great having somewhere like this too give me a push in the right direction . . . . saying that I still havn't made a decision so keep the reccomendations coming.

Some points i failed to mention;

*I can't really afford much more that £100 on a phone £150 at stretch.

*Im a self confessed show off, so i think i have to get a smartphone, unless there are some others with really cool functions.

*I admit i don't use the whole smartphone too its full potential - But i like installing apps on it when they come out.... you know just for fun.

* I like something new to play with . . . *ahem* by which i mean i love getting a new phone and working out what it does and how it works.... which is another problem i have with getting a C500 maybe diffrent to look at, but deep down its the same, and i suppose all smartphones are.

*I want to buy a Pocket PC - but am unsure about not having a keybored for sms etc - And would like WIFI

Ok i thinks thats it.

Thanks again for your help.

True that having Wifi would be cool and so would a keyboard.

but the difference in size is not something to overlook. I'd advize you to have a play at the store with both of them before making a choise.. mine would be the I-mate JAM.... but the fundings are lacking at the moment

The C500 is SMALL (the C500S is just the Silver version BTW) but if you don't mind carrying a brick then get a PPC smartphone. I paid £80 for my C500 and got £50 credit to my bill on the £15/month for 120 mins and 30 texts. It's cheaper with more expensive tariffs.

I was fed up with people calling my Motorola A920 a brick, the A1000 is better but only available on 3 so is nuterred by their walled garden.

I no longer need my PPC since I got my C500 but if you're after change for the sake of change I'm not sure what I'd recomend. The neonode or the Jam are both good but probably out of your price range.

The only thing that might stop you getting the C500 is it's similarity to your E200 - but that also means any s/ware you have bought should still work.

The choice is yours.
