Guest DJBenson Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 (edited) I had my C500 set up how I wanted it and then went and selected something in the accessories menu which did a http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset on the phone. I thought it'd be easy to sort out as I just copied and pasted the items in the \storage\windows\start menu\ folder using ActiveSync last time - but now it's saying access denied. I can move items using file manager on the phone but that would take ages - and it worked before so any idea's why it's now decided to go read only/access denied on me? Cheers and happy new year! :) Edit : Just to add that I can copy shortcuts for programs on my memory card to the directory but cannot copy/paste (move) icon's into subfolders? Guest bolasz Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I think you'll need to decert your device.
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 These files are marked as "System" files, god only knows why, which is why you're having problems If copy and paste won't work try drag-and-drop. I know it works one way or the other because that's how I do it. Sprite Backup is a good investment too. From a http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset you can decert your phone, install Sprite, and restore your whole phone from a backup. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes
Guest DJBenson Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I used the "Clear Storage" app and didn't read the warning - I mistook it for the "Space Maker" app. Does "Clear Storage" basically http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset the phone - and so reintroduce the software lock which I removed?
Guest DJBenson Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 The phone appears not to be software locked as I've installed BetaPlayer with no problems so I'm now confused as to why I cannot sort my Start Menu folder on the PC as I could before I messed around with the reset. No method of moving folders works on the PC side. I can create and delete folders and copy over shortcuts I created but not move/copy existing shortcuts. According to SmartExplorer - none of the files in the Start Menu directory are marked as read only, system or hidden so I'm not sure what's going on.
Guest Confucious Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 (edited) What has installing BetaPlayer got to do with the phone being locked? Edited January 3, 2005 by Confucious
Guest DJBenson Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 (edited) Well if the phone was software locked - BetaPlayer wouldn't install woud it (the latest unstable version). Edit : It appears that the phone was software locked after the reset - despite me unlocking it when I first got it. Anyway - unlocked the phone and copy/paste works again, so problem solved.
