Guest Marton Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Hi, Now that I have my phone OK, I'd like to start "modifying the programs to my needs", if you know what I mean. The phone is application unlocked and the programs do all run, but if I modify a single byte of the exes I get "this program can't be installed because it isn't signed with a trusted certificate". I have a FreeSpace.exe app which is 6kb long and does not have a certificate at the end, and it does run. How do I REMOVE a certificate, or how can I make the modified programs run??? Is there a way around this? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Marton
Guest squall Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Firstly I would remmind you of the EULA of the software which in most cases does not allow you to modify software. To application unlock the phone click on the words http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=102618>OTA
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 What exactly are you trying to do Marton? P
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Take it as a protective mechanism Marton. Altering even a single byte of the exe invalidates the digital signature thus giving you the error message.
Guest Marton Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Nevermind, solved it. I made the modified program run by replacing the original certificate with one I created. Here are the instructions as well as the tools just in case someone needs to do it: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....ml/odc_dcss.asp What I'm doing is related to the SIDPlay (C64 music player) program, because it plays the Sid files in PAL speed. I'm modifying it to make it play with NTSC speed because it doesn't have that as an option. I won't release anything so there's no need to worry.
Guest Marton Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Oh well..... I just found the best way to do it. The first thing I tried was just removing (by hand) the certificate, but it did not work. EDIT awarner Pease read the site rules before posting links.
