Standard dialup over IR link

I'm trying to use a standard dialup to the internet via IR, (C500 and HP NC6000 laptop running XP Pro SP2)

I have setup a GPRS connection as described by Orange and it worked perfect first time, but I also want to setup a standard dialip account as GPRS is £$$ and speed isn't an issue for me.

I'm getting error 678 - The remote computer did not respond

I'm trying to connect to:

Dial Up: 0845-667-1583

User ID/Password wd2696 / 357951

as this is a free dialup account I came across (works fine through my phone line)
