Guest ascot2 Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I had my Orange SPV C500 stolen from a pub at about 11pm on New Years Eve, Orange tell me that the circumstances in which I lost it are not covered by Orange care, and have charged £300 for a replacement (due to appear on my next bill - Happy New Year!) The replacement arrived on the 2nd as promised, however it was supplied with the wrong battery and no memory card. This morning I took delivery of a replacement with all the right pieces, however, the display (where it would normally say "Orange") reads "Denied, Searchin". Suffice to say it does not work. I have been told that Orange do not know what the problem is, and have referred it to the technical department with an SLA of 1 - 10 days to resolve. This is frankly unnaceptable, and far from the excellent service they harp on about when I'm on hold to complain. Anyone had a similar experience, or able to offer advice. Many thanks, Happy New Year, Ascot2
Guest martin Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Have you tried going into Settings-Phone-Networks and making sure that the Network Selection is Automatic ? Also check with Orange CS that the IMEI is not barred. WOW 300 pounds is a lot but I assume that was mainly to pay off the account ?
Guest ascot2 Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Thank Martin, I have tried various network settings to no avail, and OPCS tell me that the IMEI is not barred. £300 was just for the handset - I pay monthly, and there was no malicious use of the phone prior to repoarting it stolen.
Guest martin Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Do you have another phone to test the SIM ? You could have bought a C500 PAYG phone for 150 :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I would take this further, there is no reason that they can charge you £300. As Marin said go for a pay as you go and send them back the £300 phone.
Guest Confucious Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Seems a bargain. Twice the price for a phone that doesn't work... Did they send you a new SIM? Has it been activated?
