SMT 5600, XP SP2, IOGear GBU211

I paired the PC and the phone with no trouble at all. It worked fine for about a week, even uses BTAutoSync. Then today it was refusing to connect.

I tried all kinds of reboots on both devices. Tried every usb slot on the PC (have 8 including 4 2.0's)

I tried every setting I could think of in the phone and the PC. I tried both the basic xp sp2 BT drivers/utility and the widdcomm ones that came with the IOGear.

I deleted the devices off of the phone and the PC, and even went so far as to http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=ST&f=1...62&st=0>HARD RESET the phone.

Nothing has worked.

Either I am missing something or one of the two devices has gone bad. Anyone know of any problems like this not related to hardware failure.

Thanks for that link, but I can't even get the two devices to pair. They don't detect each other anymore. As if one of them is either broken or ignoring the signal of the other.

Is your BT Dongle listed as a working device on your PC? Have you deleted existing partnerships?

Yes, it's working according to windows. Shows up in device manager, shows up in the utility.

I have deleted all the pairings. I deleted and recreated the partnership for activesync... although this isn't an activesync issue.

I think I'll just go buy a bluetooth headset (which I need anyway) and then I can see which of these two it can pair with. Then at least I'll know which one has the problem.

It's really frustrating. Sunday it was working fine. I suppose it's hardware. I was hoping there was something I was doing wrong, but I don't think I am. IT was so east to connect the first time.... sigh :) Well if something is broken, I'll cross my fingers it's the dongle!!!

Well it doesn't seem to be the phone. Got a Bluetrek headset and it connects to the phone no problem, but the computer can't detect it.

So the problem is the PC. EIther the dongle or the software.

Anyone know of a way to completely strip out and rebuild all bluetooth related software aand settings xp sp2?

What BT s/ware do you have? If you have SP2 you shouldn't have any other BT s/ware.

Try going into device manager and deleting it then pluging it in again.

I've tried both software. Widcomm and SP2 native. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, manually selecting drivers, etc etc.

The only thing I haven't been able to do software wise is find a way to uninstall and reinstall SP2 native drivers and utility.
